Socialism hands the party in power control over your health care, housing, job, and groceries. @DanielDiMartino on why that should worry everyone, not just one side.

It shouldn't take longer to get a permit than it takes to build. Reforming our permitting process will unlock housing, energy, manufacturing, and infrastructure development.
It's time to build again.

Red tape is driving up your bills.
Cutting it means more energy, more homes, more health care choices, and cheaper groceries.
Abundance and competition lower costs, not more government regulation.

In this episode of American Potential, host @davidfrom sits down with @CNN commentator and bestselling author @ScottJenningsKY at @AFPhq America 250 celebration in Iowa to talk about politics, media, freedom, and the principles that have shaped America for 250 years.
Scott takes listeners behind the scenes of his debates on CNN, explaining why listening is one of the most important skills in winning an argument and what he has learned debating some of the most prominent voices on the left.
He also discusses the rise of socialism, why he believes its growing appeal among younger Americans should be taken seriously, and how supporters of free markets can make a stronger case for opportunity and individual freedom.
Drawing from his book A Revolution of Common Sense, Scott connects today’s political debates to lessons from America’s founding, including the dangers of a government that becomes too large and too distant from the people it serves. He and David also discuss small businesses, the skilled trades, and why creating opportunity means trusting people to build, work, innovate, and pursue their own version of the American Dream.
And for anyone expecting a political debate around the Thanksgiving table, Scott shares a few tips from his experience debating politics on national television.
Taxpayers deserve a fair fight on tax referendums. They shouldn’t have to bankroll campaigns to raise their own taxes.
AFP Illinois is calling for an investigation into whether 24 local taxing bodies used public resources to stack the deck.
Replying to @afpillinois
@afpillinois is asking @ILAttyGeneral and four county state's attorneys to investigate whether 24 local taxing bodies used taxpayer resources to campaign for more taxpayer money.
“If they don’t, they’re really letting local government run rampant here, breaking state law. It’s as if the state ethics act didn’t even exist,” Costin said. thecentersquare.com/illinois…

"Socialism" gets used for almost anything government does. The actual definition: large parts of the economy owned or controlled by government instead of privately.

We are saddened to learn of the death of one of our long-time activists, Gary Daugherty.
He was a fixture in our Rolling Meadows office for many years and strove to make Illinois a better place.
May he rest in peace.
We are deeply saddened by the passing of Gary Daugherty, a longtime volunteer with @afpillinois who gave his time and energy to making his community and our state a better place.
Gary’s commitment to service included serving as an Illinois state representative and a Kane County Board member. We are especially grateful for the years he spent volunteering alongside us.
Gary possessed a sharp intellect and a curious mind. He brought knowledge, conviction, and thoughtful questions to conversations, along with a warm smile and an unmistakable laugh. He cared deeply about his community and never hesitated to speak his mind.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Gary’s family, his girlfriend Candy, and everyone who loved him.
Thank you for your service and friendship, Gary. You will be missed. milnerandorr.com/obituaries/…

NYC's rent freeze takes effect today. Vienna ran a version of this for 100 years, and renters still ended up footing costs that rival market rent elsewhere.
Democratic Socialists should take note.

How long should we let a failed law run? A century? The Jones Act had over 100 years to prove itself. It failed on every count.
Tomorrow is your first opportunity to learn how and why we need to fight #socialism! We encourage you to join us because the fight is too important to sit out and one small step is all it takes to make a difference!
