The oncology pipeline continues to challenge managed care teams to prepare earlier for clinical advances, evidence needs, affordability pressures, and patient access. The closing keynote at #AMCPNexus "Oncology Pipeline 2026: Advances, Trends, and Impact" gave attendees a focused look at the developments likely to shape planning beyond the meeting. Sita Bhatt, PharmD, BCOP from the Boston Medical Center and Kaelyn C. Boss, PharmD from ForHealth Consulting at UMass Chan Medical School discussed practical insights to proactively evaluate upcoming therapies and prepare for their impact on patients, providers, and payers.
This session was supported by an independent medical education grant from AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals, Corcept Therapeutics Inc., and Merck Sharp & Dohme LLC, a subsidiary of Merck & Co., Inc.
Cate Lockhart, PharmD, PhD, Chief Science Officer, AMCP & Executive Director, BBCIC and AMCP Research Institute (ARI) spoke with Pharmaceutical Commerce about how payers and health technology assessment bodies weigh real-world evidence (RWE).
"In a survey conducted through the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy's (AMCP) Research Institute, 80% of payers that were surveyed reported wanting to use real-world evidence (RWE) in their formulary and coverage decision-making, despite just 18% regularly using it in their processes. AMCP has since published payer-focused RWE standards, including a checklist manufacturers can use as a template when sharing RWE with payer decision-makers."
