Gareth Southgate’s documentary highlighted our failure to do right by many boys growing up in Britain today. From paternity leave that supports present dads, to boosting male role models in schools, there’s lots we can improve. We’re determined to ensure Labour leads on this 👇

Well done to everyone who contributed to Campton and Chicksands stunning cascading poppy drape. With over 7,200 individually crafted poppies, it’s a fitting tribute to our ongoing connection and debt to all those who have served and made the ultimate sacrifice on our behalf. – at Campton, England

From British willow to cricket grounds across India. 🏏 The UK-India trade deal will phase out tariffs on cricket bats over the next five years, creating new opportunities for UK bat makers and the farmers growing the British willow behind them.

Local Poundland workers deserve better. I’m deeply concerned by reports that thousands of jobs are being put at risk by the American owners. Sales are up, and viable bids have been made that would keep Poundland open and their workers in jobs.

Local veterans group @themusterpoint provide vital support to veterans across our community. This Winter, they’ve teamed up with the fantastic Chicksands and Henlow Military Wives Choir to record a Christmas single ‘We’re Still Here’ in support of their important work 👏

Another reminder that we owe young men in Britain far better than the worst corners of the internet. But our boys deserve more than just reactionary headlines. They deserve investment in the education, support, and sense of purpose that they’re too often having to seek online.

Where better to reflect on a big week than back home at the pub? From fixing our broken water system, to investing in our local infrastructure, there was plenty to talk about 💬 Thank you to our hosts, and great to see them taken out of business rates by this week’s budget 🍻

Great to see coverage of our big win with @dadshiftuk and @onthetoolstv to expand paternity support to self employed dads 👶 I know this will make a big difference to the families impacted, who’ve been overlooked for far too long ✅

Over 32,000 households across Hitchin will get £100 to help with their energy bills this winter ❄️ Global events exacerbated by our broken energy markets are pushing up costs for all of us. We can’t solve them overnight, but it’s vital we do what we can to support households.

Absolute garbage - this is a technical change that happens when public sector pension contributions change. There’s no impact on defence spending power & the Tories used the same mechanism in govt. What does matter for defence spending? The chancellor, who has increased it
Big row potentially brewing on defence… Tories alleging that Healey - the man of principle who quit over DIP - might actually be *cutting* defence spending In the next two financial years, the budget for the MOD will be £1bn a year less than Rachel Reeves planned when the DIP was published in June. The total departmental spending can be calculated from the Budget Red Book pages 145-147. When compared to the DIP settlement, the Tories claim it shows that Labour are cutting £1bn a year from the MOD budget for the next two years. Why? It appears that they are forecast to spend less than expected on pensions. Rather than the MOD being allowed to reuse this Resource Department Expenditure Limit, the Treasury has kept it Cartlidge: “This is a complete dereliction of duty from the Chancellor”
