Inflation Outturn | Annual core inflation rose to 4.4 per cent in October 2026, up from 3.7 per cent in September. The rise was mainly due to higher prices for maize flour, rice, beef, cassava flour, and cooking oil, as well as higher transport fares, restaurant meals, and refuse collection charges. Core inflation remains below the Bank of Uganda’s 5 per cent medium-term target. Source: Uganda Bureau of Statistics, Consumer Price Index, October 2026 #BOUConnects

"Be careful not to confuse visible wealth with financial health. A new car, an expensive house or other outward signs of success do not necessarily tell us whether a person is financially secure. Real financial health is demonstrated by our ability to save, invest, meet our obligations and to withstand unexpected financial shocks without our financial lives falling apart," Deputy Governor Prof Nuwagaba said. @ProfNuwagaba was speaking on Bank of Uganda’s ambition to go beyond financial inclusion to financial health as he officially launched the 3rd Strategy for Financial Literacy in Uganda as part of the World Savings Day celebrations at Speke Resort Munyonyo this morning. “Ultimately, financial inclusion must translate into meaningful improvements in the way people manage their financial lives,” he said. Financial health refers to the extent to which an individual or household can comfortably meet day-to-day financial obligations, withstand unexpected financial shocks, plan for the future, and have confidence in their financial circumstances.
