But the work is not done.
That's why at COP31 we'll be asking for:
👉States to agree to no new fossil fuel projects
👉Enshrine this in law
#ClimateActionThroughLaw
Approaching #COP31 the momentum is with us - 2025’s landmark ICJ decision on climate is now a UN resolution. The 1st ever conference on transitioning away from fossil fuels was held this year in Colombia, with some countries already restricting oil & gas expansion as a result.
But there are conditions. We need the energy transition to be sustainable and just.
This means it must:
➡️Undergo rigorous impact assessments ➡️Support energy security
➡️Reduce exposure to fossil fuel price shocks ➡️Improve public health
➡️Create jobs and local economic value
💚We've never needed a COP on fossil fuel phase-out more.
2026 has shown us the impacts of the climate crisis- we know a huge part of the solution is to stop relying on polluting fossil fuels, plus energy efficiency & demand reduction🏭
🌍💚We're heading to #COP31 in Antalya, Turkïye to ensure that legal accountability is at the heart of the discussion.
Follow along for our COP31 dispatches! #ClimateActionThroughLaw
📢 The UK Govt has approved the Jackdaw gasfield.
This shows how hard the fossil fuel lobby is pushing.
We must urge the Govt not to approve Rosebank oilfield, which could release 7-10x more CO2 than Jackdaw.

Roughly 40 river charters have happened since the first - that of Sussex River Ouse, which became the first river in England to have its rights recognised by a local authority in Feb 2025.

#CleanWaterNow 3/3
These include the right to:
💚Exist
💚Thrive
💚Evolve naturally
💚Flow sustainably
💚Not be polluted
💚Preserve its biodiversity
💚Aim for regeneration and restoration
💚Build cultural and community connection
💚Represent and advocate for the rights of the river 2/3
🙌Win for UK nature🙌
The Bristol River Avon has had its rights formally recognised, in a public signing of the Avon bioregional charter of river rights. 1/3
While the EU is at least tabling a complete ban on these toxic chemicals, no such thing is happening in the UK.
👉Nothing less that a total ban on toxic PFAS is good enough 4/4
PFAS have been linked to many negative health impacts, including cancers & impaired foetal development.
What's been found in Thornton-Cleveleys is the tip of iceberg of UK PFAS pollution. People are slowly realising the damage done to them over years of exposure 3/4
These chemicals can be found in endless everyday objects from cookware to outdoor clothing. But they take decades, if not more, to break down in the environment and as a consequence are entering into water systems and soil 2/4
🩸People living near a chemical plant in the UK have high levels of toxic PFAS chemicals in their blood🩸
Residents of Thornton-Cleveleys in Lancashire live near the AGC Chemicals factory. Now the villagers have been told they have high levels of PFAS in their blood 1/4
“Protected must mean protected. Our research shows local authorities in Italy are ignoring legal obligations to protect these ecologically significant sites. That’s simply not good enough. Our legal action is putting them on notice.” Francesco Maletto, ClientEarth lawyer 5/5
We aim to:
👉 Highlight that authorities in charge of these MPAs are obliged to effectively protect them
👉 Ensure they complete mapping & adopt effective management measures to comply with EU nature laws
👉 Require them to do risk assessments & adopt protective measures 4/5
Though Italy’s MPAs cover approx 11% of its waters, just 1% of them are effectively protected. This means many areas home to marine species (including bottlenose dolphins), seabed and sea meadows that should be protected from harmful practices like bottom trawling are not. 3/5
Bottom trawling involves dragging large, weighted nets across the seabed to catch commercially valuable species that live near the seafloor. It causes habitat destruction to vital ecosystems like reefs & Mediterranean seagrass & negatively impacts the ocean as a carbon store. 2/5
🐬📢 We're taking action against destructive bottom trawling in Italy📢🐬
With our partners @Legambiente & the support of @Bluemarinef, we’re urging authorities to take steps to avoid the destruction of MPAs and protect their vitally important marine habitats and species. 1/5
⛔We're saying NO to new oil and gas projects in the North Sea⛔
And an incredible 30,000 of you are saying it with us, having made your voices heard by signing an open letter to the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, Miatta Fahnbulleh.
Thank you ❤️
That’s why we’ve filed complaints with the European Commission. Clean, affordable energy shouldn’t be only for those with the right home or income. The law already exists. Now it needs to work for people.
