In the new @BW is a story I've worked on for ages. It's a definitive look at McD's cultural impact on Russia, how a burger brand forced the US's foes (from commies to oligarchs) to rethink their approach to business, and why war can't erase that conquest bloomberg.com/news/features/…
There are worse ways to spend a few weeks than inside Connor Blakley's head.
He spent his teens teaching Corporate America how to connect brands with Gen Z. Now that he's all grown up, he's building the brands himself.
His Dropout Companies makes better-for-you CPG brands that are reclaiming childhood staples -- partly by casting them in a shared Dropout-verse populated by TV characters, pro athletes, musicians, and other online creators.

So far, they've built Jams frozen PB&Js, Bronco bagels, and maybe another forthcoming brand or two you'll have to read my new Fast Company profile to find out about! Come for the product drops, stay for the Jake Paul and Sprint CEO Marcelo Claure stories.

Meet PSDN-S, Shinkei’s newest harvesting robot, created to bring Seremoni Grade™ handling to Alaska’s wild salmon industry.
PSDN-S was created to make our harvesting technology more practical for the smaller boats used throughout Alaska’s salmon fisheries. By adapting the system to the realities of fishermen on the water, we can expand access to Seremoni Grade™ handling and bring wild sockeye salmon to more tables.
Thank you @FastCompany @clintrainey for sharing this next chapter for @ShinkeiSystems and Seremoni!

If you missed it over the 4th of July, please go catch @Nick_Bruckman and Yoni Brook's excellent new series The Price of Milk! It debuted at #1 on Documentary+ this weekend.
It's four episodes that deliver unflinching analysis of the dairy industry's evolution since the "Got Milk?" heyday, alongside an emotional look at who actually profited from one of the most successful advertising campaigns in American history.

Beyond CEO Ethan Brown made me sweat through burpees and clean-and-jerks before handing over an Immerse. No pain, no sample of @BeyondMeat's first-ever beverage. That's one way to debut a recovery drink
Brown spoke with me exclusively about their new functional drink line, and Beyond's next chapter: letting plants compete where he says they can't be beat -- on fiber, gut health, and clean protein that lowers cholesterol @FastCompany fastcompany.com/91475072/bey…
Four years ago seafood giant Nueva Pescanova teased the 1st commercial octopus farm, triggering global protests that appeared to derail it.
Curious what happened, I messaged researchers in the R&D team that had cracked captive octopus breeding, creating Pescanova's breakthrough.
The result is this @FastCompany piece: the most in-depth look yet at a nascent industry, drawing on researchers, seafood veterans, animal advocates, and food thinkers across three continents.

Ever since "Got Milk?" defined wholesome '90s ads, food corporations have seized that halo to rake in profits while dairy farmers languish. @Nick_Bruckman and Yoni Brook's THE PRICE OF MILK is a must-see docuseries examining how, partly drawn from my years of reporting on it.

Yesterday we published story #3 in @FastCompany's Trader Joe's series, documenting a pattern of alleged sexual harassment spanning over a decade. Workers say TJ's has failed to act on complaints where a dozen accused the same worker of misconduct. (1/7) fastcompany.com/91240535/wha…
And this also extends to more worrying physical threats, they claim. Such as protecting them from violent customers, criminals who have robbed as many as 21 stores at gunpoint (some twice), and pickpockets who have been targeting TJ's at higher-than-average rates for years. (6/7)
