New 📢 from CAR: Houthi Ballistic Missile Manufacturing
Read CAR's latest Field Dispatch from its Yemen investigations: conflictarm.org/Houthi_missi…
CAR has determined that the Houthis are attempting to produce advanced medium-range ballistic missiles in Yemen—marking a significant development in the group’s domestic production ambitions.🧵(1/5)
The parts appear to have been made to order. Shipping documents identify a Chinese precision-metal producer specialising in custom aerospace parts, although CAR has not independently verified the information through formal tracing. (4/5)
The findings suggest the Houthis are pursuing more ambitious domestic production of advanced missiles, while also diversifying supply chains through specialised components apparently sourced independently of Iran-linked networks. (5/5)

CAR's new report shows that the Houthis are attempting to produce advanced medium-range ballistic missiles, specifically parts of the Khaibarshekan-series, which have a range of more than 1,000 km. conflictarm.org/Houthi_missi…

CAR’s investigations have identified counterfeit electronic components in missiles and UAVs used in Ukraine, with the issue particularly prominent in North Korean Hwasong-11-series missiles. 🧵(1/4)
Since January 2024, CAR has documented hundreds of components from 11 Hwasong-11-series missiles. More than half of those successfully traced were flagged by manufacturers as counterfeits, including voltage regulators, flash memory devices, and microcontrollers. (3/4)
Counterfeit components may point to unvetted supply channels, with implications for weapon reliability and access to vetted technologies under sanctions and trade restrictions. (4/4)

Many components arrived in organised, pre-assembly form. CAR documented colour-coded and module-specific labels that appear designed to support local assembly, showing both growing technical capacity and a highly structured system for sustaining these capabilities. (6/7)
