Concerns over polluted drinking water cross political and social divides, especially in Washington County. It has more wastewater injection wells than all of Pennsylvania. There, local Republican official Susan Vessels is pushing for a three year moratorium on new injection wells.
Vessels recently appeared alongside Democratic gubernatorial candidate Dr. Amy Acton because of Acton’s pledge to pause new wastewater wells in Washington County. “We have a chance to prevent the worst from happening, and we need to act now,” Acton told us.
