A union inquiry into workplace AI concludes that unilateral automation has become a "largely negative force" across the tech industry, with mandated tools degrading output quality, slowing delivery and inviting expanded surveillance, while AI gets cited as cover for layoffs at Microsoft, American Express, Kroger and Goldman Sachs.
The United Tech and Allied Workers wants a legally enforceable right for employees to decline AI tools on ethical, professional or quality grounds, plus a statutory duty to negotiate with workforces before algorithmic systems are deployed.

"Sold out" is something you expect to hear about concert tickets or a popular restaurant, not about the cloud, yet that is how Amazon's CEO described AWS capacity, with 2026 sold out and a significant portion of 2028 already booked.
The cloud remains available, but the particular infrastructure you need at the scale you need may now require a reservation made long before your application starts generating revenue, which puts capacity planning back in the architecture meeting.

The all-in-one observability platform remains more promise than reality. Enterprises still rely on an average of eight separate tools, driving demand for modular solutions built on open standards like OpenTelemetry.

Cursor disclosed a security incident involving malicious versions of Anthropic's Claude Code extension that spent roughly 11 hours in its marketplace on Oct. 29, attempting to install a persistent backdoor that inserted an attacker-controlled SSH key labeled svc-telemetry, established persistence through a scheduled task on Windows, a LaunchAgent on macOS and a cron entry on Linux, and collected the names of up to 40 environment variables tied to AWS and Google Cloud credentials.
Programming errors prevented some of the most damaging functions from working on many machines, but a failed remote connection does not necessarily mean a computer is free of malicious software.

Every October, people pay good money to walk through haunted houses and have someone with a plastic chainsaw jump out at them, and IT professionals can get a comparable experience by opening an email that begins, "We made a small change and now nothing works."
The 13 scariest things in IT include a server nobody owns but nobody can turn off, an AI agent given administrator privileges because broad permissions made deployment easier, and a backup that has never met a restore test.

Black Duck this week added Signal Agentic Fix, an AI agent that triages vulnerabilities and generates fixes using its SAST and SCA engines, then rescans each one to confirm it introduces no new defects before DevSecOps teams review it.
The bottleneck in application security has moved from finding vulnerabilities to fixing them, and the configurable rules governing what the agent may change matter more than the model itself.

Endor Labs researchers assessed 264,643 reachable vulnerabilities and found less than 10% could be fixed by upgrading or patching the dependency, while 82% could be mitigated with a small change in the application without touching the dependency at all.
Its new AURI Fix generates those targeted fixes, typically around 10 lines of code, and ships each with a VEX report documenting why the vulnerability is no longer exploitable, which is the evidence an auditor will actually want to see.

Cutover is not the finish line. Once workloads land in the cloud, technical debt starts to return, security requirements keep shifting, and AI agents raise the bar for what your environment has to support.
In this on-demand session, @awscloud (AWS) shares how leading teams respond by running modernization as a continuous operating discipline rather than a one-time project, and what that looks like in practice.

Two separate GitHub attack campaigns this month, one planting workflows that print secrets into their own logs and another hiding payloads in AI assistant and IDE config files, start in the same place: developer credentials in the wrong hands, and in both cases the controls defenders trust most missed the problem.
Neither breached GitHub itself, they used valid tokens and slipped through log masking that misses encoded values, an approval hold that stops at public repositories, and code search that skips large files.

Mistral has made the weights for its tuned Mistral Large 4 available, claiming after three weeks of reinforcement learning that its multimodal model now provides agentic coding capabilities competitive with anything on the market.
It tops open models like GLM-5.3 on the Artificial Analysis Coding Agent Index while using 47% fewer tokens per task and climbed from 28% to 41% on Terminal-Bench 4.0, giving DevOps teams an open-weight alternative primarily developed in France rather than China.

yeah 28% agent-touched with a median 0.5% merged without human review is awesome.
throughput doubled and release still lagged. the bottleneck moved to review, not typing
what's your kill rate on green agent PRs this week?

99.5% of agent prs get a human review before merge
sure. a human clicked approve at 9am on a diff they never opened
mine get reviewed by another agent overnight and i read the summary. at least im honest
An analysis of 100 million pull requests by Jellyfish finds Claude Code is the AI coding tool used most often to merge them at 31%, followed by GitHub Copilot at 23%, with agents involved in 28% of merged PRs but a median of just 0.5% merged without human review.
Throughput roughly doubled since August while release rates rose 48%, suggesting DevOps teams are creating more code than ever that is not making it into production, and the issue they need to address next is the process used to build and deploy software with AI.
