NATIONAL TRAFFIC POLICE ARREST MINIBUS DRIVER FOR ATTEMPTED BRIBERY AND AIDING ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION
A R100 bribe could not buy freedom from the law!
National Traffic Police(NTP) officers arrested a minibus driver during the Mantsole Minister’s Transport Month Operations on 30 October 2026 after he allegedly attempted to bribe an officer with R100.
The driver was travelling from Limpopo to Gauteng with several passengers, including a Zimbabwean female national who could not produce any form of identification or immigration documentation.
It is alleged that the driver offered the officer R100 to allow the undocumented passenger to proceed. The officer refused the bribe and arrested the driver for alleged bribery and aiding and abetting illegal immigration.
Acting Director Aphane applauded the members for upholding the law and demonstrating integrity in the execution of their duties.
He emphasised that the National Traffic Police will continue to honour the badge they wear by serving with honesty, discipline and professionalism.
Not all officers are corrupt! There are dedicated men and women in uniform who remain committed to upholding the law, even when faced with attempts to compromise their integrity.
Our badge represents integrity. Our duty is to serve and protect. Corruption has no place in the National Traffic Police.
