Snow way! Not this again! With snow making a comeback, it’s time to put those summer driving habits on ice. Before you hit the roads, remember: Slow your roll! Reduce your speed and leave extra space between vehicles. Ice, ice, maybe! Watch for slippery roads especially when stopping at intersections. You’re not driving a snow globe! Clear all snow off your vehicle. Get a grip! Check your tires, brakes, and battery before heading out. Buckle up! Seatbelts are a must, no matter the weather. Had a collision? If you are involved in a collision, please report to a Collision Reporting Centre. You can check wait times for both locations online. accsupport.com/locations Let’s keep the sliding to the toboggan hills and the spinning to the figure skaters!

The soundtrack might be Blur, but the rules of the road are pretty clear. On Oct. 3, at approximately 2:12 p.m., police caught the 19-year-old driver of a white BMW 328i travelling 113 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone. Before being stopped, the driver also passed two vehicles on the right shoulder. The driver was issued tickets for: Speeding 33 km/h over the limit: $373 Failing to change lanes safely: $243 Passing on the shoulder: $243 The final track? $859 in tickets. Definitely not a hit. Thank you to the witness who supplied police with the dashcam footage.

118 km/h in a 40 km/h zone? That'll get our attention. On Oct. 19, EPS Traffic Enforcement Section officers were conducting speed enforcement in the Beaumaris Road area following a traffic complaint when they caught a red Chrysler 300 travelling 78 km/h over the posted speed limit. The 25-year-old male driver was issued a mandatory court summons. High flyer. High consequences. Slow down. Targeted enforcement like this is part of our ongoing work toward a safer Edmonton, because safer streets start with safer speeds.

The Edmonton Police Service was proud to escort soldiers from the Princess Patricia’s Light Infantry as they returned to Edmonton from CFB Wainwright. Many EPS members have served in the Canadian Armed Forces and still have close ties to the military. We share a common bond of duty, and because of that, the recent tragedy that occurred at CFB Wainwright is felt deeply by every single one of our officers. Our hearts go out to the families of the four brave individuals who lost their lives and to the injured personnel recovering in hospital.

Two wheels. 134 km/h. A 60 km/h speed limit. You can probably see where this is going. On Oct. 18, EPS Traffic Enforcement Section officers caught a Kawasaki ZX-4RR travelling 74 km/h over the posted speed limit near Gateway Boulevard and 71 Street. The 25-year-old rider was stopped and issued a mandatory court summons for speeding, along with a ticket for failing to have his driver’s licence with him. Slow down. Safer speeds mean a safer Edmonton.

Five charged in national online drug trafficking operation: The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) has charged five individuals from Edmonton in relation to a national online drug trafficking ring. Between March 2024 and January 2025, the Edmonton Drug and Gang Enforcement Unit (EDGE) investigated an online organization operating under the brand “BlueBuddhaCo”. The EPS learned that the organization functioned on a national scale, shipping approximately 8,700 packages of drugs across Canada while laundering proceeds through banking systems and cryptocurrency platforms. The organization was advertised as an online illicit drug delivery service, promoting fast and secure nationwide shipping for a wide selection of controlled substances, including cocaine, MDMA, LSD, GHB and methamphetamine. As such, the extensive investigation involved assistance from policing partners across Canada, including the RCMP and Ottawa Police Service. Search warrants were executed in January 2025 and revealed multiple storage and distribution locations in the city, including central Edmonton and the Hollick-Kenyon and Schonsee neighbourhoods. Police located controlled substances, drug-processing and packaging equipment, digital scales and shipping supplies. Police estimate the street value of the drugs seized is approximately $224,000 and that this criminal organization received approximately $1.98 million through e‑transfer deposits. In February 2026, the following individuals were charged with a total of 133 criminal offences including organized crime, trafficking, money laundering and proceeds of crime: * Melvin Yong, 33 * Dung Nguyen, 66 * Gary Tan, 43 * Mila Then, 35 * Kevin Leung-Wan, 33 “This investigation exposed a well-organized criminal enterprise that distributed controlled substances across Canada while attempting to conceal millions of dollars in criminal proceeds,” says Staff Sergeant Jennifer McCann with the EPS’ Drug and Gang Enforcement Unit. “The complexity of this operation demanded a sustained, intelligence-led investigation involving extensive financial analysis, digital evidence and interagency collaboration.” Police will continue to identify, investigate, and prosecute the people behind these types of online operations. Members of the public are encouraged to report any related websites or advertisements by taking a screenshot and contacting the EPS non-emergency line at 780-423-4567 or by visiting a police station. The EPS would like to remind Edmontonians that any medication not prescribed by a medical professional is not safe to ingest and can pose significant risk to a person’s health and safety. dlvr.it/TVzS33
