We were honored to have our State Director, Greg Britton, participate in this important event alongside the @USDOL, @FLACommerce, @EducationFL, and @CareerSourceFL to announce the Shipbuilding and Defense Industrial Base Apprenticeship Incentive Fund. We are proud to support efforts to expand apprenticeships and connect Florida’s small businesses with the workforce, resources and opportunities they need to grow and compete.
Yesterday, Deputy Secretary of Economic Development and Chief Manufacturing Officer Jason Mahon joined U.S. Secretary of Labor Keith @Sonderling47 and @EducationFL Commissioner Henry Mack to announce the launch of the Shipbuilding and Defense Industrial Base Apprenticeship Incentive Fund—funded by @USDOL’s Pay-for-Performance Incentive Payments program, which includes $40 million in grant funding to Florida.   Applications are now being accepted! In 1914, thousands gathered on the shores of Tampa Bay to witness Tony Jannus make history with the world’s first commercial airline flight. Today at the same site, we celebrated the first flights of “flying cars” in Florida—electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft retracing Jannus’ historic route.   Today’s flight event, which featured three types of eVTOL aircraft, was part of a series of demonstrations through the FAA’s Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) Integration Pilot Program. I’m proud of Florida’s leading role in this national program and the years of preparation that brought us here. We’ve made infrastructure investments, enacted innovation-friendly policies, and worked hard to usher in a new era of transportation here in the Sunshine State.   Florida has long been a staging ground for the future. Today’s historic AAM flights have proven that Florida remains on the cutting edge of transportation innovation.
