How much are Ontario taxpayers paying for the Ford government's education ads?
Earlier this week, Treasury Board President Kinga Surma said to ask Education Minister Paul Calandra.
Today, Calandra said to ask Surma.
So far, no one has provided an answer on how much the ads are costing:

NEW: Ontario’s Health Ministry spent $13.3M on advertising last year, new FOI records show.
That brings our tally of the Ford government's advertising spending to more than $90 million across five ministries.
The health minister's office says advertising remains an "important tool" for informing families about programs & initiatives.
Opposition says the government should be using that funding on life-saving treatments or relieving hospital pressures. thetrillium.ca/news/health/o…

An important conversation. “White normativity” is something that I’ve been aware of long before there was a term for it. Nearly everything outside of my family that I was exposed to growing up presented “white” as the human default.

Chicago is a city built on labor struggle, and for Black workers, that fight has always been about more than wages—it’s been aboutdignity and freedom.
One hundred years ago, thePullman portersorganized the first all-Black labor union in the country, led byA. Philip Randolph and Chicago’s own Milton P. Webster. For decades, these porters endured low wages, brutal hours, and racism on the job. They were called “George” instead of their real names—a dehumanizing reminder of slavery. Butthey fought back.
Through relentless organizing, theyforced the Pullman Company to negotiatein 1937, securing better wages and protections. But their legacy goes far beyond the railroads—these union leaders spread organizing strategies throughout Black communities, fueling the Civil Rights Movement and the Great Migration.
TheChicago Teachers Union salutes the Pullman portersfor showing us that labor fights are fights for justice. Their spirit lives on in every worker standing up today.

1. Today is Simcoe Day in Toronto. So let's talk about John Graves Simcoe & his strange, complicated relationship with slavery.
The founder of Toronto was a professed abolitionist... who also once fought a war to *preserve* slavery.

Did you know the LCBO puts $2.5 billion into Ontario public services every year?
Money from #LCBO sales goes toward health care, education, housing, and more.
Doug Ford would rather that money went to his rich friends.

"I can't breathe."
During the 2021-22 season, a Black hockey player on a U15 AAA team in Gatineau, Quebec, was allegedly forced to the ground by a teammate who pressed their knee on the player's neck.
The Black player was only released after repeating the final words of George Floyd, who was murdered by Minneapolis police in 2020.
The locker room incident was detailed in a Hockey Quebec investigation report obtained by Le Droit's @justinemercier.
The report documented at least 14 instances of "racist gestures and remarks" by six players and criticized both the hockey organization and the team's head coach, who continues to coach minor hockey.
The report noted two Black players have since left the team.
