If you have a bunch of people who don’t believe in organized religion, they can’t get together and talk about it and be a group, because now they’re getting organized. All that ‘organized religion’ means is that you have a structure of beliefs—a theology that makes that religion that religion. What do you want, disorganized religion?
We could say Jesus is the Savior for the whole world. He died for the whole world. He is the rescue plan. That’s it. There’s none other. Now, whether you take advantage of that or not, and put your confidence in Jesus or not, and trust him or not, that’s a different matter.
What did God intend the cross to accomplish? To pay for sin. His desire is for everyone to respond, but his intention is to give the benefits of the cross only to those who fulfill the requirement, and that requirement is faith in Jesus.
The blessed hope is not the pre-trib Rapture. It’s the return of Christ. It’s the visible, powerful, and conclusive return of Christ.
People ask, ‘Well, why do bad things happen to good people?’ Well, nobody’s good, ultimately, for one. And secondly, when you understand the world that God made and the fallenness of the world, we should expect this kind of thing is going to happen.
If somebody wants to say apologetics isn’t a good idea, then they have to take it up with Jesus and the apostles, because they were the ones who wrote about it, talked about it, and did it.

God secures the outcome of his sovereign will. He’s going to get it done. But there are other times when he says, “Here’s what I want, and I’m not going to do it. I want you to do it.” That’s God’s moral will. My prayer is that I would manifest the will of God, morally speaking. What can I do to be that presence of God’s goodness, the kingdom come, in my life today?
We should try to be good and gracious and kind in the engagements we have with others who differ, of any sort. Yet we do not flinch regarding those things that are critical, foundational, and part of essential Christianity, and also part of essential Christian morality.
It would be odd if somebody said, “I can’t believe in a God who would make something like Brussels sprouts that was distasteful to me personally.” That would be a weird objection, but that’s what the objection to evil in the world regarding God amounts to if a person is a relativist.
Here are four ways to keep your readers reading:
1. Make your first line strong. It gets people to the second line.
2. Make your first paragraph strong. It gets people to the second paragraph.
3. Don’t introduce ideas you can’t explain. Readers may follow those questions instead of your main point.
4. Keep your writing focused so people can follow your point.
What makes a talk memorable?
1. Tell stories and anecdotes.
2. Use surprise to grab people’s attention.
3. Engage with your audience. Get out from behind your notes.
4. Make your points memorable so the audience can retain them.
5. Speak on the same level as your audience.

The most important detail of any communication is clarity. And how do you accomplish clarity?
1. Decide what issue or information you want to convey and what you want to persuade readers about.
2. Put your material in an order that makes your point clear and substantive.
3. Make everything support your main point.
4. Don’t try to say everything you know about a topic.
5. Don’t introduce a new idea you can’t explain. Readers may follow it away from your point.
6. Read your piece out loud to hear how it sounds.
My counsel to fathers and mothers is to have a kind of family investment spiritually in the lives of your children. But here is the key—that it be regular.
Some people in church love the world more than they love Jesus. It means more to them than Jesus does, and so therefore they sell out.
Don’t let it be you.
There could be people who participate in Christianity in some sense, but have no final anchor. They’re not locked down. And then when the attraction comes, having loved the present world, they leave.
Don’t let it be you.
Every church has its tares, and they show their colors sooner or later.
Don’t let it be you.

How long is eternal life? It’s eternal.
You can’t stop eternal life if somebody’s got it. It’s my conviction somebody that is genuinely regenerate stays regenerate. There are people that look like they’re saved and aren’t.
