Over 75 senior retired 🇺🇸U.S. generals, admirals, and military lawyers have signed a new open letter rejecting claims that Israel committed genocide in Gaza.
The signatories include those who have commanded U.S. armed forces in combat, applying the laws of armed conflict.
Their conclusion: based on the facts and applicable legal standard, the conduct of Israel’s war against Hamas does not constitute genocide.
As the letter states, “Civilian deaths occurring during combat, however tragic, are insufficient, by themselves, to support a finding of genocidal intent.”
The standards used to judge military conduct matter precisely because war is tragic and imperfect.
“The precedent established today regarding Israel will shape the conditions under which American forces fight tomorrow. Protecting civilians and preserving the ability of our nation to defend itself requires us to defend the truth when the laws of war are being distorted to make false charges of genocide.”
This is not an argument for minimizing the suffering of civilians. It is an argument for applying the law faithfully and maintaining the distinctions that matter: between the tragic consequences of war, violations of the laws of armed conflict, and the specific crime of genocide.

Iran hasn’t directly attacked Israel since early June because it understands the cost of doing so.
“They fear, correctly, that Israel will retaliate hard,” says @MichaelMakovsky who explains why renewed conflict may be increasingly difficult to avoid. @TimesofIsrael timesofisrael.com/after-mont…
The Muslim Brotherhood is a security threat to the United States, but few Americans understand its origins, ideology, or reach.
A new JINSA primer by @HusseinAboubak examines the organization and why governments across the Middle East & Europe have moved against it.

The Brotherhood says it renounced violence decades ago. Yet its ideology helped shape:
🔴Modern jihadism
🔴al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri
🔴9/11 planner Khalid Sheikh Mohammed
🔴Hamas originated as its Palestinian branch
Washington needs to take 5 concrete actions👇

Qatar is spending billions on American universities, fueling an environment of student radicalism across college campuses.
They’re buying access, impacting hiring decisions, and influencing the school leaders charged with guiding America’s future generations.
@HusseinAboubak & Lt. Gen. Karsten Heckl, USMC (ret.) say Congress needs to act and bring greater transparency and safeguards for academic independence. algemeiner.com/2026/10/21/ad…
SOUTHCOM chief Gen. Francis Donovan told reporters today he wants to use unmanned boats to stop river-based drug trafficking by cartels.
Strategic imagination like that helps unlock autonomous systems’ full potential, Vice Adm. Mike Connor (ret.) and JINSA’s @TobinYoni recently wrote for @DefenseScoop. At the same time, failing to innovate means ceding ground to enemies like Russia, which has 20+ types of maritime drone projects, they warn.

Subterranean warfare is reshaping modern battlefields—from Gaza to Ukraine, w/ @TheAtlantic & @WSJ examining it.
The U.S. & Western militaries cannot ignore the underground.
JINSA's new landmark report leverages lessons from Israel's experience, laying out how to succeed against this unique threat.
Co-authored by Israel’s subterranean warfare commander, this report draws on hard-won battlefield experience to explain:
🔹How underground threats are evolving
🔹The Israeli innovations and lessons forged in combat
🔹What U.S. and allied militaries must do to prepare
A must-read for Western defense leaders: jinsa.org/jinsa_report/subte…
President Trump's oil blockade is having a significant economic effect. Could the U.S. be preparing new strikes that might topple the Iranian regime?
JINSA's VADM Robert Harward to @LelandVittert: “From all my contacts in Iran, it's pretty dire,” the regime is “in bad shape.”
Tracking the latest military movements by the U.S. and Israel, @MichaelMakovsky tells @StephanieCNews:
“All the signals are pointing to… some significant military action [against Iran].”

Hamas was probably not the audience @Jeep was targeting with their “Go Anywhere, Do Anything” campaign.
⛰️ The report is coauthored by the man who commanded Israel's counter-tunnel operations post-Oct. 7.
It also features photos of subterranean Hezbollah facilities and Hamas holding cells and tunnels in Rafah big enough to drive a Jeep through.

Iran may be taunting President Trump over gas prices, but Tehran shouldn’t assume it will escape further U.S. strikes.
“While Trump is unpredictable, there are certainly signs that he might hit Iran hard” after the midterms, says @MichaelMakovsky in @nytimes. nytimes.com/2026/10/20/us/po…
👀Can you spot the difference?
One is under Gaza.
The other leads from Mexico into the United States.
It's never been easier for cartels & terrorists to procure commercially available equipment + expertise for tunnel construction through near-frictionless int'l networks. 1/🧵
Just as Ukraine’s battlefield experience has accelerated advances in drone warfare, Israel’s sustained combat against Hamas and Hezbollah has produced hard-won lessons in detecting, mapping, and neutralizing sophisticated underground networks.
Fortunately, like Ukraine, Israel now has dozens of high-tech inventions + lessons for combating tunnel threats.
The United States should study Israel’s setbacks and successes, and deepen bilateral subterranean warfare R&D, training, intel sharing, and other cooperation. 8/
The U.S. needs a new defense playbook for underground threats – and this one-of-a-kind report spells out what it must include.
