Preach. This is a party of mummy’s story. She was relentless, tough, and passionate about so many things, especially science and research. She knew it was the answer to changing people’s lives. Bravo and thank you Eileen McNamara for keeping her legacy alive and well.
Eunice Kennedy Shriver, the 5th of 9 in President Kennedy’s family, is not as well known as her brothers, John, Robert, and Ted.
But author and journalist Eileen McNamara highlights Eunice Kennedy for her work behind the scenes that changed the world. #womenshistorymonth

Eileen McNamara explains in a 2018 JFK Library Forum how Eunice Kennedy Shriver remains one of the most influential Kennedy siblings, even rivaling her more famous brothers John, Robert, and Ted.

For years, the illegal Israeli outpost of Esh Kodesh served as a launchpad for violence against nearby Palestinian villages.
Then in December 2025, the Israeli government legalized it -- one of 104 new settlements Netanyahu's government has approved.
What happened next? More violent outposts sprung up, renewing the cycle.

Israeli settlements have massively expanded in the occupied West Bank under the current Israeli government – along with a major spike in violent attacks on Palestinians. @JDiamond1 reports on how the government has allowed this and whether elections could prompt any change.

Journalist/activist @the_andrey_x — who filmed the assault on WaPo’s Heidi Levine last week — was just arrested by Israeli forces.
Dozens of other Jewish solidarity activists, including @bradlander & @rabbis4HR activists, were also detained at another olive grove in the West Bank
Twelve soldiers + police showed up in Taybeh olive field to stop a single Palestinian olive farmer from harvesting a single tree. After harassing him for 30+ minutes, a car full of some sort of special police officers stormed in and violently arrested the journalist/activist @the_andrey_x. One of the arresting officers shoved me, then showed me his bloody elbow and said I did it to him. (So if they take me next, that’s probably their pretense.) Second and third videos are other angle of the shove (including it here to be safe). Fourth video is from just before—the major military operation to stop a farmer from picking olives. Fascist state.

Just one of Christiane’s many powerful and memorable moments: refusing to give in to Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi’s demand that she wear a headscarf for an interview in NYC. She showed up; he didn’t.
Grateful to call @amanpour a colleague and friend.

To say this marks the end of an era doesn’t even cut it.
@amanpour has been synonymous with CNN & with top-tier international reporting for decades. I grew up admiring her, pinched myself every time I got to share a screen with her & have been grateful on so many occasions for the platform her show offered for in-depth, international coverage.
Will miss her dearly at CNN. But bravo on 43 extraordinary years. We should all be so lucky

"Head-scratching... & disconcerting, to say the least." President Trump's decisions over Ukraine are alarming allies. Former Pentagon official @EvelynNFarkas says the diesel deal w/Russia is "giving Putin a gift... That is completely disconnected to trying to get a peace deal."

I had no idea that Helen Branswell was ill. I'm deeply saddened to hear of her passing. When I became CDC director, a very astute member of the CDC press office told me that I wasn't ready for a briefing unless I was ready for questions from Helen Branswell. Her questions were always thoughtful, knowledgeable, and fair. Her reporting showed us where we needed to improve and informed the public about health. We need more reporters like her. I'll miss her.

A terrible loss. She was the world's premiere infectious disease reporter -- an icon for all of us in public health science and journalism alike.
It is hard to believe that Helen Branswell has passed away. Just heartbreaking.
On January 4, 2020, Helen wrote STAT's first story on a mystery pneumonia outbreak in China. She saw the pandemic coming well before anyone was paying attention.
Helen was a journalist who knew more than most of the experts she interviewed. She understood the science, the history and the politics of every outbreak she covered. She asked the hardest (and best) questions and never let me get away with a vague answer
Experts learned from her. I certainly did
It's hard to imagine a world of pandemics, biological threats and so much more without a Helen Branswell to explain it all.
