Boom!!! Proud to have led seed at @saastrfund
Owner has raised $240M, reached a $2.3B valuation, and crossed $100M ARR. Goldman Sachs Alternatives led the round, joined by Meritech, Redpoint, Headline, & Jack Altman. The world is racing to build AI to replace people’s jobs. Owner is building AI to do the opposite:

If you can't afford to support smaller customres ... maybe just let them use you for free
Customers told him $1,000 per user was why they would not ramp. "For every user it costs me a thousand bucks," says Ron Gabrisko. So he made users free. Consumption went through the roof. Charge for value, not seats.

✅ Your LPs will forgive you for: - A Fund I that took 10+ years to return capital - A couple of zeroes in a concentrated portfolio - Marks that stayed flat while the market reset - Missing the hottest deal of the vintage ❌ Your LPs will NOT forgive you for:

90% of VCs won’t invest in you if they don’t think can get to $100M in 4-ish years or less It just is what it is But 10% still will One bit of advice for that 10%: price the round, and the size, very reasonably, without games or drama
The fundraising market right now feels as polarised as I've seen it in a long time. It's becoming a story of extremes - either traction or vision. Arguably, this is what venture has always been for. The difference now is how fast the bar for each is rising. Every week brings new "fastest to $100m ARR" or another announcement of a collection of incredbily credentialed individuals raising a first round at a Bn+ valuation. We are living through a technology revolution that is opening the doors to both potential extreme scenarios. And as such, VC is crowding into these narratives. However, history of startups tells us that raising the largest round or having the swiftest fundraise often does not exclusively correlate with the ultimate most successful companies. There are going to be incredible founders building generational companies that do not satisfy this dynamic or the current venture zeitgeist. Such founders who can successfuly navigate this period of time may be the ones who benefit the most by building enduring companies.

A pitch deck is a filter, not a story. A VC decides in about 3 minutes whether to take the meeting. SaaStr AI reads your deck the way that first pass actually happens and tells you where you lose them. saastr.ai/ai-vc

Anthropic's Q3, from today's amended S-1: $16.96B in revenue, +47% Q/Q. But the dollar add shrank for the first time:
 - Q2 added $6.84B
- Q3 added $5.40B That's still about a Snowflake's full year of revenue added in one quarter. But hitting the $110B year-end run-rate investors expect would take a Q4 add more than 2x Q3's.

You might not be a great CEO, especially not yet But anyone else: - wouldn't really know the product cold - wouldn't really know the customers - wouldn't really know crazy nuances of the market - wouldn't see the future - wouldn't care so much So you are probably the right CEO

If you charge agents for every API call, they won't use you as often And they may well route around you Make sure you are OK with that before you start charging for agent access
API calls used to be like free water. "We've been using it like free water," says Jason Lemkin. "We got one estimate it might be as much as $240,000 a year." So what do the agents do? Work around it.

When growth slows, the #1 idea from most CROs is: Raise Prices on Existing Customers. It’s extra revenue without having to close more net new customers. It’s also often punishing those that bet on you, and bet on you to treat them fairly. There is a time and place for pricing increases. But whatever you do, don’t let it be a crutch to prop up slowing growth. It solves nothing there, in the end.

Fundraising in B2B + AI right now: VCs want to see revenue quality, retention, and why you win on more than price. If your deck doesn’t make that case in the first 5 slides, you won’t get to slide 6. Get it graded by SaaStr AI: saastr.ai/pitch-deck-analyze…

The best GTM use case for Muse? Just ask it to do something that isn't getting done You may be surprised it can just ... do it At least some of it
Most AI tools answer a question and stop. Muse does not, says Jason Lemkin. "Just ask Muse how to do it." It runs the task for hours, with its own browser and its own LLM.
