Why does every conversation about a talented young player eventually turn into a comparison with LeBron James?
I’ll tell you why. Because whether people want to admit it or not, LBJ has become the measuring stick for greatness!
Think about that. We’re comparing a 19-year-old rookie to a guy who has sustained excellence for over two decades.
You don’t have to believe LeBron is the GOAT, but when he’s constantly the standard used to evaluate the next generation, that tells you everything about his place in NBA history.
Sometimes the comparisons say more about LeBron’s greatness than the player being compared to him. 🤷🏾
“Cooper Flagg’s a better defender than LeBron at 19. Cooper Flagg’s got a better fundamental jump shot at 19. Cooper Flagg is more positionally versatile defensively at age 19.”

Amazing how fickle some people can be! Jaylen Brown delivered a championship, was their best player in both the Conference Finals and NBA Finals, and had everyone partying like it was 1999! Then, when they thought last season was lost, that SAME guy came out of nowhere, led the team to 56 wins, and made their jobs fun again. Funny how quickly people forget! 🤷🏾

This is an Epidemic. Longer more intensive training camps please, to strengthen bodies for the rigors of an 82 game season. We played in canvas Chuck Taylor’s and never went down like our players are in today’s games. 🙏🏿💯

You would think the NBA Players Association will recognize that 3 weeks of training camp is not good enough to start a regular season. Every year the same lower leg injuries.

Been saying it forever Rick, but it eliminates 6-0 in their mindset.
I’ve been on teams loaded with great players that still didn't win.
Talent gets you in the gym. What wins is the stuff that never shows up in a box score: making the extra pass, taking the charge, being the first one to pick up a teammate when he's down. Dean Smith had his scorers point to the passer for that reason. Nobody wins alone.
It works the same way in business. Your best performer isn't always your best teammate. The people who make everyone around them better are the ones who build something that lasts.
Being a great player doesn't make you a great teammate. That's a choice you make every day.

Interviewed this young man two weeks ago on our @SiriusXMNBA NBA Today show. He’s a confident 19-year-old, but he’ll learn quickly that veterans expect results when you’re taking that many shots.
I learned that lesson in my second NBA season. If I was going to put up a ton of shots, I’d better shoot close to 50% from the field!
Today’s game has lowered that standard because of the three-point shot, but you still need to be above 46% to justify that kind of shot volume.
Confidence is great, but efficiency earns respect and keeps peace in the locker room!
Darius Acuff Jr. is making NBA history just THREE games into his career 🤯
Acuff has attempted more shots through his first three NBA games than any player in league history.
He’s also the FIRST player ever to attempt 20+ shots in each of his first three games.

Game 2: 26 FGA
