Zipline now worth $21.5 billion, making it the 2nd most successful thing ever launched from a construction trailer after meth.
Today, Zipline raised $1.5b at a $21.5b valuation. When we started Zipline, flying autonomously in the US was illegal. Which made it really hard to convince investors to give us money! But we were too naive to think that meant we shouldn’t try. We started the company on a cow farm. We worked out of run-down construction trailers so that we could keep engineering, manufacturing, and flight test all unified and in one place. Hiring people from normal companies like Google was hard because we didn’t have a cafe or laundry service. But enough risk takers and rebels wanted to go on an insane adventure with us. They became the early team. We decided to launch in smaller countries and focus on life-saving use cases. We hired incredible entrepreneurs and operators in Rwanda, Ghana, Cote D’Ivoire, and other countries. For eight years, Zipline expanded our service across Africa, serving thousands of hospitals and health facilities and reducing maternal mortality by 51%. Today, the network saves over 14k lives every year and is cash flow positive. Last year, Zipline launched at scale in the US and the service exploded. We grew flight volumes about 100x over the last 18 months, and now make more than a million deliveries a year per metro. We’re now expanding with our partners to millions of deliveries per day. Normal families love having access to anything they need in 10-20 minutes, no matter where they live. Spend more time with loved ones and less time worrying about errands. Zipline builds drone delivery that is silent and safe. No one wants to hear an extremely loud “swarm of bees” delivering to their backyard or their neighbor’s. Automated delivery needs to be insanely quiet, which guided the overall architecture of our technology delivering from 330 ft in the air. We are 6 times quieter than the closest competitor during delivery. Zipline also now has over 150m commercial autonomous miles (10x the rest of the industry combined) and no safety incidents. Neighborhoods should demand silent and safe delivery! Today, Zipline is announcing two things. First, we just signed the largest autonomous vehicle contract in human history to expand automated delivery nationally with Walmart, our first and biggest partner in the US. We’re starting by scaling to 300 supercenters throughout the country. Second, we’ve raised $1.5b at a $21.5b valuation from existing and new investors, led by Paradigm, WCM, and Layer. Zipline was a hard company to believe in for the first ten years of our history. Investors didn’t think the company was “investable”. Most people didn’t even think Zipline was an economic venture. Thanks to those who have rooted for us along the way. To all of the tens of millions of customers and families who rely on Zipline day in and day out: thank you for helping us build the future. Zipline has grown more than @ryanzip, @keenanwyrobek, I, and all others at the company could have imagined. There is a big opportunity to build a new layer of infrastructure for humanity over the coming years. We want to approximate teleportation. We can build a logistics network that connects and serves all people on earth. We can free human flourishing from the choking constraint of traffic and roads. There are no roads where we’re going. 🚀🌎

Repeal CEQA, the primary NIMBY tool to prevent building anything Hospitals, high speed rail, housing, all blocked by an army of lawyers employed by NIMBYs
Sutter gives up on new Emeryville hospital after being unable to get CEQA relief. If Alta Bates closes in 2030, the East Bay is in trouble. Who would weaponize CEQA to stop a hospital? Literally denying medical care to yourself and your neighbors. sfchronicle.com/health/artic…

Whop is a rocketship helping creators make a living online. It reminds me of the early days of Twitch…
Whop has raised $200M in Series D funding at a $5.1B valuation, backed by @sequoia and @shopify. It really feels like we are barely touching the tip of the iceberg in a market larger than anyone can imagine. We first launched Whop as a better way for us to sell sneaker bots, one of the most niche types of desktop software out there. Total TAM? Probably $20,000 per day. Who cares, tiny market. But, what people discounted is the idea that there were actually 70,000 other markets exactly like that one. Beyond the investment itself, I am especially excited to welcome legendary silicon valley investor @dougleone to our board of directors. Doug and the sequoia team are nothing but a brilliant, resourceful, and principled group of people. My co-founder Cameron and I started building on Shopify when we were 13 years old. Shopify is one of the most impactful all-in-one cloud ecosystems ever created; @tobi has pioneered modern entrepreneurship the way we know it and we are thrilled to have him in our corner. We have a tenet at Whop to be the dumbest in the room and I am very grateful that this has recently become a lot easier. We are focused on markets, scale economies, and progressive media. If that is up your alley, please message me directly. The $200M raised will support our expansion as we build economic infrastructure for the next century, continuing on our mission of delivering everyone an income.

I’ve been using this daily - the first personal agents that I’ve found easy to integrate into my own workflows
Wabi 2.0 is live! personal agents are one person, one chat. but the parts of life that matter run on more than one person Wabi is an agent you use together. you talk to it, it does stuff, builds the apps you need, and anyone can join the thread - your partner, your best friend, the preschool moms groupchat school changes pickup time → Wabi updates the family calendar, everyone sees it. a show you’d both love → Wabi finds a night that works, gets the tickets. the trip everyone keeps talking about → Wabi picks the dates, builds the itinerary, books it go start a thread with your people 👇

AI is already smart enough. Real-world tasks are still slow, expensive and unreliable, because we hand AI a computer built for humans, then wrap it in a heavy harness. AI doesn’t need to get smarter. It needs a computer built for it. Today we’re releasing Pine Computer
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Pine's highlighted SaaS-Bench v1.1 results show higher checkpoint score (78.3%) but lower resolved full-task completion (27.4%) than comparators (29.2%, 31.1%). Pine Computer is in private beta, not a full public release. unipat.ai/benchmarks/Saa… pinecomputer.io/blog/introduci…

Almost five years after starting Rye, I’m excited to share that we’re joining Jolly! We started Rye in 2021 with a pretty ambitious idea: make commerce on the internet programmable. Give developers a set of APIs that could connect any experience to any product and actually complete the transaction. The five years since have been a crazy journey. We built a lot, changed direction a lot, worked with companies ranging from tiny startups to some of the largest companies in the world, and had an incredible team figure out how to build things that, at the time, mostly didn’t exist. If you’ve followed Rye recently, you’ve probably noticed I’ve been quieter publicly. For the last few months, a lot of my time has gone into figuring out what the right next leg looks like for Rye and for the technology we’ve spent years building. Agentic commerce is going to be a huge part of how people buy things. The last year for us has been a series of learnings on where that usage is and where it will be moving forward. What's been clear is that the true 10X here is applying this technology to industries that are already solving problems for people at scale. We’ve spent a lot of the last year in rewards and loyalty, and Jolly is probably the best example of why. They already support hundreds of thousands of frontline workers through their platform. Adding what we built at Rye gives them a completely new set of ways to turn those rewards and incentives into things people actually want and can use. That’s what got me excited about working with Dean and the Jolly team. They’re an amazing team, move incredibly fast, and already have the scale. Rye gives them a full commerce layer to build off of and Jolly gives our technology a place where it can actually reach a lot of people. Some of the Rye team will be joining Jolly, and I’m excited to see them take what we built and supercharge it from here. After almost five years building Rye, I’m going to take a little time before figuring out what I want to build next (with how exciting it is to build right now, I doubt that break will last long :P). There are far too many people to thank in one post: every person who chose to join our crazy company, our customers who trusted a startup to power important parts of their businesses, our investors who backed us, and all of the friends and founders who helped us through every version of the company. Building Rye has been one of the hardest and most rewarding things I’ve ever done. I’m incredibly proud of the team, what we built, and that a big part of that work gets to keep growing from here. Let’s go!
Today, we’re excited to share that Rye is joining Jolly. We started Rye almost five years ago with a simple idea: commerce on the internet should be programmable. Developers should be able to connect their users to products from anywhere and build purchasing directly into whatever experience they were creating. Since then, Rye has powered millions of commerce transactions across marketplaces, rewards programs, gifting platforms, AI applications, and entirely new shopping experiences. Over the past year, we’ve seen agentic commerce move from an idea into something increasingly real. Some of the most exciting applications are the ones where this technology touches real-world behavior: people earning rewards, redeeming benefits, receiving incentives, and purchasing things they actually want. That’s also where we’ve spent more and more of our time, and it’s a big reason why we’re so excited to be joining Jolly. We’ve worked closely with Dean and the Jolly team and have been incredibly impressed by the company they’re building, their growth, and the way they think about the connection between incentives and commerce. As part of this next chapter, members of the Rye team will be joining Jolly and the technology we’ve spent years building will become part of a much larger platform. To everyone who built with us, worked with us, invested in us, and believed in what we were building: thank you. We’re incredibly excited for this next leg and for what Rye + Jolly can build together. More from Jolly

Zipline is the future of all instant delivery. Everyone else is just catching up to this fact.
What if your dinner could fly over traffic instead of sitting in it? We are now scaling to provide Uber Eats more than 1 million autonomous deliveries a day. Uber is becoming an investor in Zipline. We’ve entered the scaling era for robotics and physical AI.

Are we the woolly mammoths? Progress ep06 is live with @justinkan, co-founder of Twitch. Mammoths built the grassland they lived on, then changed it too fast to survive. Justin thinks we might be next. We talk AI job loss, his bet on a Mamdani-style president in 2028, and what selling Twitch for $970M didn't fix.
