Solana is looking to make token account creation significantly more compute-efficient.
A new proposal, SIMD 0567, introduces p-ATA, a redesigned version of @solana's Associated Token Account program built using Pinocchio.
The proposed implementation maintains compatibility with existing applications while reducing compute-unit consumption by an average of 81% across common ATA instructions.
Why does this matter?
Token account creation is one of the most frequently executed operations on Solana. Making it cheaper could free up valuable compute capacity across the network.
The bigger picture is that scaling isn't always about increasing throughput. Sometimes, it's about making existing operations consume fewer resources.
And that's exactly what this proposal is targeting.

4/ Solana is making its developer workflow more flexible.
The latest updates also include changes to the Solana CLI and program building tools.
One notable improvement is separating cargo-build-sbf from the standard Solana CLI installation.
Developers who only need the CLI will no longer need to install the program building tool alongside it.
The changelog also includes work toward using V1 transactions by default in the CLI, giving developers a more direct path to newer transaction capabilities.
It is another step toward making Solana development easier to configure and more adaptable.
