Youth Urged to Take a Stand Against Corruption
The Director-General of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), Paulus Noa, has called on Namibia’s youth—who make up approximately 70% of the population—to actively combat corruption in their respective regions.
Speaking at the commemoration of International Anti-Corruption Day and the official opening of the Rundu Regional Office this morning, Noa highlighted the devastating impact of corruption on national development.
He noted that many Namibians continue to live in extreme poverty, and corruption undermines key projects intended to improve living standards.
“Corruption poses significant challenges to poverty alleviation efforts,” Noa said, emphasizing the need for collective action to address this issue.
Adding to the discussion, Junior Council member Elizabeth Ndumba urged young people to champion anti-corruption initiatives. She encouraged peaceful advocacy for stricter measures against corruption and accountability through the prosecution of offenders.
The new Anti-Corruption Commission regional office in Rundu will serve the Kavango East, Kavango West, and Zambezi regions to enhance the ACC’s reach and accessibility in the fight against corruption.
