We’re offering a route off the streets this Christmas. And we will keep working together to tackle the root causes of homelessness - and end rough sleeping for good.
"This moral mission of ours isn't just for Christmas, we're in it for the long haul." Housing secretary Angela Rayner announces the government's plans to end rough sleeping at a summit in Downing Street. trib.al/97QIFQh 📺 Sky 501

This is not true – this was money given to councils to allocate to projects of their choosing. There are very clear rules to make sure councils spend money impartially and there are powers to recoup money if it is found to have been mis-spent. Our response mhclgmedia.blog.gov.uk/2026/…
Angela Rayner’s department spent public money on Left-wing propaganda seeking to prevent a Reform or Tory government. Publicly funded material seen by The Telegraph was handed to council staff, offering instructions for steering local voters away from Nigel Farage as well as the “Tory-Right”. Find out how the money was spent ⬇️ telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/10…

On Sunday, I joined members of the Jewish community to remember the victims of the horrific October 7 terrorist attack. Three years on, we hold in our thoughts all those still carrying the pain caused by that day. We stand with Jewish communities today and every day.

Three years since the terrorist attacks of October 7, we remember those who were murdered, honour their memory, and hold in our thoughts all those who continue to feel the hurt and loss of that day.   And for too many Jewish communities here in the UK, October 7 wasn't just one day: it marked the beginning of escalating antisemitism here on British soil.   Jewish communities should be able to live safely, freely and proudly. Today and every day, we stand with you.

A year on from the tragic Heaton Park Synagogue attack, we continue to remember Adrian Daulby & Melvin Cravitz, and keep their loved ones, survivors and the community in our thoughts. Their memory strengthens our resolve to tackle antisemitism & build a future free from hate.

A year ago, the Jewish community in Manchester faced a horrific attack on their right to live safely, freely and proudly in this country. Today, we remember Adrian Daulby and Melvin Cravitz, honour the courage of the Heaton Park community, and continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with Jewish people across the UK. We will not stop fighting antisemitism until everyone is able to live their life as a Jew freely and safely.

Overnight visitor levies are already used in destinations around the world, but what do mayors think about bringing one to their areas? Here’s what they had to say 👇

Visitor levies are used in many great cities across the globe to improve the visitor offer. A modest levy here would give us more money to support our visitor economy, while helping our businesses and communities to benefit from its continued growth.
🚨NEW: The government has announced that mayors will be handed the power to introduce an Overnight Visitor Levy. A modest levy could raise £18m a year for the Liverpool City Region - and be directly reinvested back into the things that make our visitor economy such a success.

I joined fellow UK Mayors at Number 10 North to discuss: 🛏️ A visitor levy to reinvest in our places 🎓 More powers to improve skills and education for 16-19 year olds 🚃 Faster delivery of major infrastructure projects More power out of Westminster. More delivery closer to home.

Last night, almost a year after the horrendous terrorist attack on Yom Kippur that resulted in the murders of Melvin Cravitz and Adrian Daulby the Greater Manchester Jewish community came together at Heaton Park Synagogue, the very place where the attack to place to commemorate their lives. It was a deeply moving and poignant evening, bringing together 850 members of our community alongside local and national political leaders, civic representatives, emergency services stakeholders , community partners and friends from across Greater Manchester. Their presence demonstrated the strength of the relationships between Greater Manchester’s Jewish community and the wider civic and political leadership of our region. Most importantly, we heard from the family of Melvin Cravitz and representatives of Heaton Park Synagogue. Their words were a powerful reminder that behind the headlines are lives lost, families devastated and a community forever changed. But last night was also about strength, unity and resilience. Standing together at the Synagogue where so much changed for our community, we showed that hatred will not define us. The terrorist tried to close the Synagogue. Instead, he filled it. We will continue to remember Melvin and Adrian, stand with their families, support the whole congregation and advocate at the highest levels of government demanding real action to eradicate extremism and hate that continues to target British Jews.
