Hobbs in their 2026 ballot guide) — Our journalist posed as a Canadian citizen and asked to register to vote. The canvasser not only agreed to help the alleged non-citizen register, but when asked whether other Canadians could register too, she said, “Tell them to do it online.” Worker Power (working to re-elect Gov. Hobbs) — Our journalist told a canvasser they were not a U.S. citizen. Despite this, at our journalist’s request, the canvasser marked “yes” on the citizenship question of the voter registration form. When We Count (the DNC’s own registration program) — Our journalist posed as a felon on probation and asked to register to vote. The canvassers looked up the law and saw that a felon on probation is ineligible. Even so, they encouraged our journalist to register: “You should just do it.” AFL-CIO (phone bank mobilizing voters for Gov. Hobbs) — Our undercover journalist asked a phone bank trainer whether to ask the people being called if they're citizens. Last night, I chaired my final meeting as a member of the Sarasota County School Board. I ran because I believed parents deserve a real voice in their children's education, and that belief guided every vote I cast for more than a decade. Serving this community has been one of the great honors of my life, and I'm proud of what we accomplished together. The best part of this work has been the people. So much of the good in our district and our community never makes the headlines. Walking alongside hundreds of families as they fought for their own children is what kept me showing up, meeting after meeting. To our Superintendent and staff, thank you for the work you do every day, so much of it unseen. I have never been more proud of where this district stands than I am today, and leaving on those terms means a great deal. To my colleagues and friends Robyn Marinelli and Karen Rose, thank you. You gave decades to the children of this district as educators before ever taking a seat on the board, and it has been a privilege to serve beside you. To the incoming board, I wish you nothing but the best. May you never take for granted the weight of this office or the impact your decisions will have on our students, families, staff, and taxpayers.
