We are rapidly building the technology for a Star Trek future. But we are far behind on making the necessary social and moral progress.

I learned one of the best business lessons of my life at the Ritz-Carlton Montreal at 9pm. It’s called the $2,000 rule.

We will all be learning in coming weeks & months, that most human-made software: ▫️ Was really slow ▫️ Had many security vulnerabilities ▫️ Was under-specified and incorrect AI will rewrite it all. Many times. It will make it fast, cost-efficient, and secure. It will think about failure modes we couldn't wrap our heads around. It will prove, formally verify, load test, harden. It will turn memory-unsafe foundations into robust, optimized ones. If you ask, it'll thoroughly document it, teach you about it, make diagrams, animations, and slide decks. In many ways, we are witnessing the true birth of software engineering.

narrative violation: preferences will swing back from DIY vibe-coded software to super secure industry-leading SaaS solutions. while it's super easy to build anything, endlessly protecting and securing it is super hard...and teams want to sleep at night.

Tremendous public service from Binance to publish this. Take your time to read it. Make all your engineers read it. In fact, anyone you know who works in tech, have them read it. This was the largest single heist in human history, $6B+, and it happened through mundane channels. The Internet is now going to be full of AI-accelerated social engineering toxic sludge, and it's your job to be hypervigilant. Build your infrastructure in a way that assumes it will get compromised. Make sure you have AI-powered monitoring 24/7 and a "shut it all down" killswitch in case you ever need to go nuclear. The stakes are too high to be scrambling in the moment the way it seems Binance was during this attack.

With all the doomsday chatter filling my feed, I keep coming back to these words from C. S. Lewis. A reminder to live and enjoy what we have right now.

the entire enterprise game is expansion getting in is by far the most arduous part the 10X value/upside is in growing and expanding value with them so many folks stall out at $100K-$200K /year lands once you’re in, you’re in … they want you to be successful note: landing at sub $100K is super dangerous. often not on exec radar/their baby — easy to cut, ignore, push to side re: limited value
