Estimating ventilator derived energy expenditure
Accurate estimation of energy expenditure (EE) is essential to guide nutritional therapy in critically ill, mechanically ventilated patients. Inadequate nutritional dosing in either direction is linked with adverse outcomes, including increased morbidity and mortality. Indirect calorimetry (IC) is the accepted gold standard for measuring EE, as endorsed by the European Society for Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism ESPEN

💚 World Mental Health Day | 10 October
Mental health is an essential part of overall health and wellbeing. Just as we recognise the importance of nourishing our bodies, we must also make space to care for our minds.
This World Mental Health Day, let’s prioritise mental wellbeing, foster supportive communities, and create environments where everyone feels able to seek support without stigma.
Small acts of kindness, meaningful connections, and access to appropriate support can make a difference. Remember: asking for help is a sign of strength, and no one should have to navigate mental health challenges alone.
