Becketwell in Derby will be the home of #GreatBritishRailways, which will bring track and train back together for a better railway for our customers and taxpayers.
A modern national centre of excellence in a city at the heart of railway heritage ...

⚠️ We're working hard to keep rail services moving during #StormBoelo this weekend.
🌬️ If you live near the railway, firmly secure objects like trampolines, sheds and garden furniture.
These can block lines and disrupt trains.

⚠️Storm Boelo: Important travel advice 24-25 October.
The Met Office has issued weather warnings for high winds across Scotland & northern England this weekend. There's a risk of rail disruption, so please plan ahead and allow extra time.
Sat 24 October: Check before you travel on all Avanti West Coast routes.
Sun 25 October: We strongly recommend you avoid travel north of Preston if possible. We're running a reduced timetable due to Network Rail speed restrictions, with fewer trains and longer journey times.
🎟️ Avanti West Coast tickets for journeys north of Preston on Sunday 25 October can be used at no extra cost on 24, 26 or 27 October.
Please check your journey before you travel here: avantiwestcoast.co.uk/travel…

We are working hard to respond to the impacts of #StormAusten today🌳💨
We are out across the network clearing trees and debris, checking drainage and flood monitoring as high winds and heavy rain continue into the weekend.

Our teams are hard at work responding to the impacts of #StormAusten. 🌳 🍃
💨 During storms our colleagues often need to clear lines of trees, vegetation and large objects that have blown onto our railway.

Remember to check your journeys if you're travelling during the storms today and into the weekend.
Sometimes we need to slow down train services to keep you moving safely.

🌧️ Very wet weather forecast in the coming days, and preparations are well underway.
Our flood pumps located across the country are being checked to make sure they're in tip-top condition and communicating with the team back at base. 🧑💻

🌬️ #StormAusten is coming!
Live near the railway? Make sure you tie down objects like trampolines and garden furniture.
These can easily blow onto the tracks and block train services. ❌

Our rail infrastructure is very busy, which can mean difficult choices about services and opportunities. 🚉
The proposed Access and Use Policy sets out a framework to help make those choices transparently and consistently:

What’s the alternative to closing a busy railway for 60 weekends for essential work?
Doing as much vital maintenance as possible in just three weeks.

Did you know Severn Bridge Junction in Shrewsbury is the largest working mechanical signal box in the world?
It still has its original 180 levers inside, all dating from 1903:

ALT A Merseyrail train is stationary at a well-lit underground platform with "Kirkby" displayed on its front. Passengers are waiting beside the train, and an electronic sign provides information about upcoming departures. The station features tiled walls and a yellow tactile safety line near the train tracks.
🎥 Across the railway, drones, sensors and smart CCTV are helping us identify and catch trespassers faster than ever.
Step onto the tracks and you could face a fine, arrest or even a criminal record:
