This month, the Ethereum Economic Zone ran the first atomic L1-to-L2 transaction on mainnet. The goal: a cross-chain move that can't get stuck halfway. Pact covers that for BTC to ETH swaps. If an LP fails to settle, another completes it, or the protocol compensates you.

Bitcoin and Ethereum don't share a scripting language. That's why most cross-chain BTC ends up wrapped, or stuck in a multi-step handoff. Pact's contracts read each chain's native state directly, so BTC, LTC and DOGE swap with EVM and Tron assets as they are.

A Bitcoin order sitting in a shared pool can get matched more than once if nothing enforces otherwise. Pact Swap ties each order to a small dust-lock UTXO. Since that UTXO can only be spent once, the order links one-to-one with its settlement, no intermediary needed to police it.

Building on top of a bridge usually means building your own reorg-handling logic too, in case the chain rewrites itself mid-settlement. Pact's contracts already re-evaluate against each chain's canonical state and settle to it. One less edge case for your team to own.

Most cross-chain systems settle by vote: enough validators agree, so it's final. Pact's contracts check swap outcomes directly against the source chain's own data, the same way you'd verify any onchain proof. No one to persuade. Just data that either matches or doesn't.

A bridge exploit hit The Sandbox recently. Hijacked permissions minted unbacked SAND across two chains, and exchanges froze transfers while the team worked out what was actually backed. Pact never mints a wrapped token. Nothing to mint unbacked, on any chain.

Most cross-chain systems need someone to decide what happens when a swap fails: a multisig, a support ticket, a delay. Pact slashes the LP's collateral automatically. Another LP steps in. If that fails too, the protocol compensates the user itself. No manual step, ever.

Most cross-chain infrastructure breaks down under $100. Fixed overhead eats the fee. Pact posts collateral per trade instead of pooling liquidity, so a $25 swap still pencils out at a reasonably low fee.
