This weekend is Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights. Rooted in celebrations of the harvest season, it is tradition to have lamps illuminating homes and communal spaces, while parades and other festivities bring together families and communities. Happy Diwali!

Being a parent today means trying to keep up with constantly changing technology and social media, while our kids race past us in consuming it all. That’s why it is so important that the companies building these platforms are honest and realistic about the regulations they set and the resources they provide. Protecting our children is a team effort, and we all play a part.

The planned bike ride boycott of Jewish-owned restaurants in and around Rittenhouse Square on the eve of the anniversary of Kristallnacht is deeply unsettling. By explicitly targeting businesses because their owners are Jewish, the organizers are engaging in a form of discrimination that falls back on some of the oldest antisemitic tropes and tactics in history. This is not simply a protest directed at the policies of Israel, rather it singles out our fellow Pennsylvanians based on their Jewish identity, targeting them for policies they have nothing to do with and no ability to affect because of their faith. That is unconscionable in our Commonwealth which was founded on religious tolerance and unacceptable in a city that prides itself on brotherly love.

Putting your name on the ballot is a leap of faith. I thank everyone who stepped forward to serve their communities by running for office. I look forward to working with those who won yesterday to create safer communities and protect Pennsylvania consumers.

Cryptocurrency kiosks can be found throughout the Commonwealth, and scammers prefer them as a method of payment because people are less familiar with them. Last year, my Office’s Bureau of Consumer Protection received about 290 scam complaints involving crypto currency, and that’s why we want people to STOP when asked to use these devices.
