.On a realer note… Baby #2 is loading!! 🤩 Becoming a mother again has made my commitment to public service even more personal. Every decision we make as leaders AND caregivers has the power to shape the world our children inherit, and I am deeply committed to building healthier, safer, and equitable communities for all our babies not just mine. It’s been a pleasure serving as your favorite nurse legislator during this very special season of my life. Charles, David and I are excited to meet our newest little one this fall!

This weekend, we celebrated our fall community resource fair! Our team will always remember the joy we shared with you all at Restoration Plaza. So many neighbors came to learn about healthcare resources, job opportunities, legal services, and tenant/homeowner assistance!

Dolores Huerta was an incredible organizer and a force for change across many decades. She was a brilliant, courageous, and dedicated advocate for workers, immigrants, and women, and her work inspired many around the world. She spoke the phrase "Sí, se puede," heard at so many rallies and actions across our city, into our common vocabulary. Her spirit will be felt in the struggles of workers for years to come. Rest in power, Dolores. Sí, se puede. nbcnews.com/news/obituaries/…

A disgusting tactic designed to terrorize communities and sow distrust in government.

Two weeks ago ICE shot a New Yorker and terrorized his little boy. Today Oscar Belgal remains detained with a bullet stuck in his neck while his 5-year-old still wonders when his dad will come home. Abolish this cruelty. Abolish ICE.
This afternoon in Marble Hill, a New Yorker was shot by an ICE agent in a residential neighborhood. Early reports indicate agents surrounded him and a 5-year-old child in his car before firing multiple rounds. We believe the child was physically unharmed. This is an unconscionable and incredibly serious situation. I have called the President; when we speak I will demand that he ends all ICE enforcement actions in our city. I will not stand by while ICE agents terrorize our communities. Our thoughts are with the injured New Yorker and his family tonight. We are praying for his recovery. Get ICE out of our neighborhoods. Get ICE out of our hospitals. Get ICE off our streets. Get ICE away from our children. Abolish ICE.

Today, Brad Lander, rabbis, and other New Yorkers accompanied Palestinian farmers during the olive harvest. For that, they were detained by the Israeli government.  Harvesting olives is not illegal. The occupation is. I am thankful that Brad has been released. But other New Yorkers remain detained, and they must be released immediately. The same Israeli government detaining them has committed a horrific genocide against Palestinians, killing more than 74,000 people over the last few years alone.  The detention of these New Yorkers must end. The occupation must end. The genocide must end.

Seeing how my patients’ living conditions directly affected their care was a huge reason I ran for office,” Souffrant Forrest explained. Head to nurse.com to learn why I, along with other nurses, remain committed to public service.

DHS must formally extend Ukraine's and Sudan's TPS and reinstate Haiti's TPS, as well as the TPS for all other countries from which the current administration revoked it.
TPS protections for Ukrainians and Sudanese nationals were set to expire today. They didn't. DHS must formally extend TPS for all other countries. Our immigrant families should not live in limbo, fear, and uncertainty; they should build lives in New York State with peace.

5 million people kicked off SNAP with another wave of cuts hitting later this month. On World Food Day, that is Trump’s legacy: enacting the largest cuts to food aid in American History & putting millions of families at risk. In the richest country in the world, no child should go to bed hungry. Fund groceries, not ICE. Fund babies, not bombs.

Big news for families! 🎉 Today, the Mayor and Governor announced 10,000 new 2-K seats coming next year, building on the 2,000 seats announced earlier this year. And yes, this includes more seats to AD-57! My team was at the press conference for the announcement, and we’ll keep going to keep fighting to make sure every family gets a seat!
