This was a huge unlock for the team. And thanks to @remix_run, we were able to have the server do all the rendering work, and only load these when they needed to! (This is the approach I mentioned in my talk!)
For Shopify Editions Fall 2026, we built a whole pipeline around @figma Motion.

Remix 3 avoids hydrating the whole page. Instead, we only hydrate the pieces of the page that need it.
This allows us to ship as little JavaScript to the browser as possible.

Remix 3 helps keep the critical path lean. The page renders as HTML, and only interactive islands ship a `clientEntry`, their chunks, and scoped data.
In practice: no need to have the whole app data in the source code!

We switch to @remix_run 3 for the latest @Shopify Editions and found incredible performance gains. Remix 3 allows you to be explicit about browser ownership and how much you want the browser to own (and what can remain just HTML)

We took a big leap: Bye bye React, and hello Remix 3!
Working with the Remix team has been a blast, and this new version delivers exactly what we need: a more browser-native experience with less re-renders, hydration, javascript, and no implicit side effects.

If you're willing to go this far I strongly urge you to checkout Remix:
- Keep your JSX/composability
- State is a variable
- No magic
You can also easily integrate with libraries like XState if you want more sophisticated state management. No need special adapter libraries.

Built with Remix 3.
The new Edition drops today.
It’s a magical time to build. Hope this Edition shows how much fun we’re having.

If you like visuals, this is what Remix 3 did for our store.
shop.remix.run is already running on this + Remix 3!
vs. our old React Router version, on an emulated throttled phone:
- ~50% less JS
- ~60% less script execution
- Homepage paints in 1.2s (was 4.4s)
- went from 17 → 4 dependencies

📝 The Remix Way
I gave a talk at Remix Jam about the six months I spent going all in on Remix v3. 116 packages and 11 apps later, here's what it taught me.

I'm really proud of this talk.
For a year this thought has consumed me:
"If agents can't use Remix then we're dead in the water."
followed by:
"If I don't actually like what agents make with it, then what am I even doing working on yet another framework?"
Spoiler: I like it.
