Christine Lagarde is QUITTING the European Central Bank early, and Europe is about to get a major fight over who controls monetary policy next.
Lagarde will step down as ECB president on February 7, 2027, 8 months before her term was due to expire.
Her departure comes as the ECB battles renewed inflation from the Iran war, rising bond yields and growing concerns over European public finances.
Lagarde is leaving early; the race to control interest rates for more than 350 million Europeans is officially on.

I'd be overseeing the scrapping of the Basel approach to bank regulation, the re-introduction of national currencies and sensible quantity of credit policies, which includes moving to a fast and low-cost registration system for new banks that lend for business investment. As I'd oversee the creation not destruction of thousands of banks, I'd deliver double-digit economic growth.
