i used to think that maybe creative life and professional life had to be two distinct pursuits. but being in the crypto/web3/ai space as an independent since 2019 has really reinforced just how much they complement each other. and had i not pursued this entrepreneurial adventure, i’m not sure i would’ve discovered that.
i'm going through my artworks one by one to collect the metadata and potentially locate my original image files.
anyway, i burned quite a few of my early SR mints in 2020. wish i could have this one back from the burn pile.
*i know this could be done programmatically, but i like sifting through data and reconnecting with my old work through a different lens.

i don't know if this is ambitious, stupid, or even necessary, but as i'm collecting the existing metadata for each artwork, i've added some additional categories that will be locally stored for some advanced filtering w/in the gallery. things like theme, subject, technique, palette, and a few bunch more.

Looks like those are going to be presented in a show very soon during Paris-Photo!
Stay tuned, the place is new
i became a weaker man when i let the fear of how others might react irl dictate what I was willing to publicly stand up for. now i will, when appropriate. ironically, tho, during that time i learned that i don't owe it to just anyone to justify my opinion. and i don't really gaf about change their's either. so i guess there's a silver lining.

Gm to perseverance! Almost 20 years of rejection. Then two award shortlists in two weeks!
For nearly two decades, I've had a 100% rejection rate from the traditional art world. Awards, scholarships, bursaries, exhibitions… rejected by them all. Never even shortlisted.
But something seems to be changing.
Last November, a Scottish Parliament motion recognised my work and my #EXPOS3D exhibition.
Then in May, I delivered a keynote at the Edinburgh Futures Institute (Creative Tech Scotland), where I joked about my rather ‘impressive’ rejection record.
And now, after almost 20 years, TWO major award shortlists in the space of a fortnight!
🏆 Faith Art Prize 2026: My 50 kg golden apple sculpture 'Eve's Agreement' has been selected for exhibition at Westminster Cathedral in London, with a £25,000 prize up for grabs.
🏆 Creative Edinburgh Awards 2026 (Innovation Award): Shortlisted for nearly two decades of pushing boundaries through painting, technology and experimentation.
I have no idea if I'll win either one, so my perfect record of never winning an award may yet survive! 😂
But to every artist who's ever received that dreaded "unfortunately..." email: keep creating, keep taking risks and keep going.
Often the only difference between failure and success is refusing to give up.
Persevere! ✊
my domain registrar tried to rain on my parade and promote this to me. my immediate thought was, i'm gonna leave it for my future haters. their free promotion will be greatly appreciated.
in the spirit of building in public, i started to vibe code my site's catalog/gallery.
→ secondrealm.net/art
was inspired by the venerable @bryanbrinkman's gallery layout. i've only added 5 projects. poke around a bit.
more work to do to import all my art, but the functionality is there.
