Very well articulated and profound piece of journalism by @gildeguerra
In simple words he develops the course of action needed to deal not only with the Sandinista dictatorship but with the remaining of the hemispheric left wing groups and secure the US alliance with right wing governments and political parties.
I would have just added that the kind of decisive measures against the Nicaraguan regime would imply a kind of “Operation Absolute Resolve” action to end up with the Nicaraguan tyranny not only to stop the Russia, China and Iran strategic influence but also as a strong reference for Cubans and Venezuelan Chavistas.
Thank you Gil for keeping the fight up.

You know, the way the Roman republic finally fell (it took a lot of other stuff too) was Caesar marching on Rome because he feared, probably accurately, that if he gave up his position and army he’d be prosecuted and prosecuted by his enemies.
Not making fun of Brazil. Afraid we’re on the same path. Every time another norm gets flouted it gives permission to the other side to go a bit further (wsj.com/opinion/trump-opened…). Very bad process that’s hard to stop.

Report from Ferg’s that will make Brewers fans laugh:
The owner tells me that yesterday, they went through 1,000 cases of Miller and Coors Light, which is a MONTH’S worth of beer!!
A month of beer in one day.
If you were wondering if they like beer in Wisconsin, they do! 😅

Absolutely amazing that Fox News, which can afford a massive research department, is instead giving its viewers imaginary numbers conjured by a model from "Election Data Guy."
How's that Bluewave going in Texas 🤣. Democrats usually dominate the early voting, not this time. It's going to be a bloodbath in Texas. It looks like the Republicans are going to mop up in Texas. Talarico never had a chance.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Texas has no voter party registration, and the Secretary of State reports no party breakdown for general election early votes. The image shows third-party modeled estimates, not official counts.

President Trump early voting in Florida; two previous times he voted this year were by mail.
He has previously posted on social media: “No mail-in or ‘Early’ Voting, Yes to Voter ID!”

I'm gonna take a stab: When you're afraid to mention your party's signature economic policy in campaign ads, that might be a sign that the policy is unpopular because it didn't work as promised.
Just such a fun chart here from @greg_ip. If only we could tease out some meaning. Ah, well, nevertheless. 🤣

Elon Musk claims that Ukraine allegedly violated Starlink's terms of use and used the system on combat drones.
As someone who was inside the process at the Ministry of Defense, I can say with certainty that this is not true.
In February of this year, whitelists were introduced. Stationary terminals could be registered by both military personnel and civilians.
But for any satellite terminal to work while on the move, it had to be added to a special list and connected to the military Starshield system. Otherwise, no satellite communication terminals in Ukraine would work.
In other words, using civilian Starlink for drone missions was technically impossible. All drone missions that required satellite communication could only be carried out using Starshield.
We are very grateful to the United States and SpaceX for access to critically important satellite communications. Ukraine did not violate the terms of use.
Stephen Hayes retweeted
This is more evidence for Congress, which can easily determine if Ukraine violated any terms of service. It also constitutes a tacit admission by Musk that he played a part — if not the central role — in throttling Starlink.
