بعد سقوط النظام، عادت آمال عودة القمح وطقوسه. لكن في تموز 2025 بالسويداء، تروي أم أمير أن مسلحين نقلوا "ألف كيلو من القمح" من منزلها، ثم رأتهم يحرقون الحصاد على البيادر. مشهد تكرر مع نهب القمح وحرقه في قرى أخرى.

كانت تصل الخلقينة إلى الحارة "كرائحة الأرض بعد أول مطر، كزائرة بحلة العيد". تبدأ السليقة بصويل القمح وتنظيفه، ثم سلقه وتوزيع الصحون على الجيران. كانت أمها تردد: "الرزق يجب أن يذوقه كل من يحبوننا قبل أن نذوقه نحن".

ظنت ميسون أن الطقس يخص قريتها القريا في السويداء، قبل أن تكتشف امتداده في مناطق سورية أخرى: "السليقة" في الساحل، و"دانوك (Danûk)" في عفرين ومناطق من الجزيرة، مع أسماء وتفاصيل تتغير من مكان إلى آخر.

Hamidi Khader Al-Ali has piloted a ferry for nine years. After Al-Siyasiya Bridge was destroyed, he built one himself; airstrikes destroyed it the following year. His second ferry still carries 30-40 passengers.
Ali Al-Samhan calls the crisis “not just a transportation issue, but rather an issue of access to rights, services, and normal life”. For thousands of families split across both banks, crossing the river remains a basic need.
