Thursday evening of the passion week I am reminded of Jesus, in full knowledge of what Judas had just done, washing Judas’ feet.
The calling of Christ is to wash the feet of those who mean us harm. To love so radically, we not only choose peace but also kindness.
On Monday of the passion week, Jesus cleansed the Temple for 1 of 2 reasons:
The temple was cheating people financially
The temple reserved the outer courts for buying and selling of animals. Consequently, this halted non Jewish people from worshiping freely
In either case, Jesus noticed an injustice. Either based in prejudice or economic greed.
This caused Jesus to flip tables, whip animals and stop all business from happening.
Jesus rioted.
