We would like to thank Lord Khan of Burnley in particular for his part in our discussions with the MHCLG and his expression of support for Tell MAMA in ensuring the offer of further funding. His determination to tackle anti-Muslim hate is heartening and motivating, and we value his desire to make a positive impact in this area of work.
Lord Khan had said of our work: "Tell MAMA is a key partner in the Government's work to tackle anti-Muslim hatred and Islamophobia.
"It has developed important initiatives to capture, monitor and report instances of anti-Muslim hatred that have helped to inform Government policy and has worked in communities and organisations to provide training for those who support victims.
"MHCLG and its ministers do not have concerns about financial, structural, or governance issues in respect of Tell MAMA, that would preclude the signing of the 2024/25 GFA or continuing to fund Tell MAMA into 2025/26."

A 21-year-old man, Illia Bilyk, appeared at Stratford Magistrates’ Court yesterday (19 October). The District Judge decided the magistrates’ court’s sentencing powers were insufficient and committed the case to the Crown Court for sentence. Bilyk will be sentenced in due course.
Bilyk had pleaded guilty to five counts of racially or religiously aggravated criminal damage. The charges followed a wave of anti-Muslim graffiti targeting five Islamic premises across Leyton and Stratford in January 2025. Tell MAMA shared information with the Metropolitan Police during the investigation.
