Well, today is the day. How You Show Up is officially live.
I'll keep it real. I've spent the last six years hesitating to write again. Two best-selling books in, and I still sat with a stack of "what if this one isn't as good" doubts every time I opened the laptop. Writing this forced me to close my own "belief gap" before I ever helped anyone else close theirs.
At its core, How You Show Up is about the gap that exists in each one of us between who we intend to be and who the people around us actually experience. Not because we're not enough, but because the most important person any of us will ever lead is the one staring back in the mirror.
I wrote it for anyone who needs to show up for other people every single day, at work or at home, often carrying more than anyone around them realizes. If that's you, I think you'll see yourself somewhere in these pages.
Change the belief. Change the behavior. Change the outcome. That's the book in nine words. You don't need a perfect score to live a life filled with purpose and impact.

How You Show Up - 40% off - One Week Only!
5 ways How You Show Up can help transform workplace culture:
1. Close the gap between intention and impact. Help leaders recognize the difference between how they mean to lead and what their teams actually experience.
2. Build trust through everyday actions. Connect the values on the wall to how people listen, respond, and follow through.
3. Challenge beliefs that hold teams back. Examine the assumptions that shape decisions, limit potential, and influence how colleagues treat one another.
4. Create a culture where people feel seen. Encourage leaders to look beyond performance and understand the person doing the work.
5. Make accountability personal. Help every team member take ownership of the energy, choices, and behaviors they bring into the workplace each day.

I have a heart for rural schools. These places are made up of some of the most amazing people who find a way to do it all. What an honor it was to open this year’s @nrea1 conference in San Antonio! What a group!! So grateful.

Leaders who learn and grow don't just stay relevant. They build cultures where curiosity thrives, courage is contagious, and every person around them is inspired to rise. Blessed to have keynoted @EARCOSORG last week in Bangkok. #edchat #edadmin #edleadership #suptchat #edutwitter #educhat
Personal & Authentic turns 7 today. 💙🙏🏻
I can still remember sitting in the corner of my local Starbucks, writing the stories with tears streaming down my face, like it was yesterday.
Seven years and 40k+ copies later, I’m still humbled by the stories people share, the conversations this book has sparked, and the incredible educators who continue to pour their hearts into this work.
My greatest hope has never been about the number of books sold. It’s that somewhere along the way, these words encouraged someone to keep pressing on, reminded them that they matter, or helped them see the incredible difference they make in the lives of others.
Because seven years later, one thing hasn’t changed, the books very first words:
“The work is hard. But our kids are worth it.”
To everyone who has been part of this journey, thank you!

Great point, Tom. People will get good at actions. People really get good at thinking. Vision is essential. Reflection is essential. Love your book. I'm about to post my review of it. Proud of you. Essential for leaders NOW.

LEADERS!!! Sometimes the BEST THING you can do is help people cross something off so they can CIRCLE WHAT MATTERS.
Find one thing you can reduce, remove, or simplify for the group that you lead…and then ACTUALLY DO IT.

LEADERS!! Pay attention to what people say BEYOND the question that you asked.
Sometimes the most meaningful part of what you do for someone isn’t what you did…it’s making them wonder how you knew it.
