The caregiver thought she was helping a single mother named Amy look after her adult son. For weeks, she bathed him and changed him, dozens of times, exactly as a vulnerable client would need.
None of it was real.
There was no Amy.

She thought she was just going to buy a phone until something happened that broke her heart.
A woman by the name Jane, went to buy a fairly used iPhone from a seller she found online. She had saved for months because she wanted to replace her old phone.
When she arrived, the seller handed her the phone and everything looked perfect.
But before paying, she decided to check the phone properly.
The battery health looked good. The camera worked. Face ID worked. Everything seemed fine.
Then she checked the IMEI.
The phone had been reported stolen.
She immediately asked the seller about it.
Instead of apologising, the seller became defensive and told her, Madam, if you don’t want it, leave it.
She walked away.
She later said, “That day taught me something: sometimes a deal looks too good because someone else is hoping you won’t ask questions.”
Always check before you pay. A cheap phone can become a very expensive mistake.

Just remembered the day my roommate in university was accused of stealing and almost burnt alive. 😭 I was still on campus when my phone started ringing.
“Come home! They’re beating your roommate! They said she stole money!”
I ran as fast as I could.
When I got to the house, I saw students, some indigenous people, and a crowd gathered around my roommate. She was in the middle of everyone, completely naked.
I froze.
I honestly didn’t even know what to do. My first thought was to run because I was scared they would assume I was involved too. Then I thought about calling her parents.
Before I could even take a step, they spotted me.
“Come and see! You’re living with a thief!”
At least they didn’t think I stole with her. 😭
I asked what happened.
Apparently, she had visited a friend who had just discovered that ₦108,000 meant for her school fees was missing from her bag. My roommate had been there earlier.
When the friend called to ask about the money, she completely denied taking it. So the friend reported the matter to the community youth leader.
That morning, they came to search our apartment. And somehow, the entire ₦108,000 was found under our bed.
I was speechless.
After a lot of pleading and begging, they eventually let her go. I was terrified to live with her after that.
The moment the semester ended, I asked her to leave. It wasn’t even as if she was paying rent, I had only accommodated her.
Now here is the crazy part.
She didn’t become famous on campus because of the stealing allegation.
No.
The naked video of her had gone viral around campus, and suddenly every man wanted to “know” her. 😭
Men started coming to my house almost every day with gifts, food, drinks and all sorts of things, trying to convince her to date them.
Fast-forward several years…The same girl is now married to one of Lagos’ big boys, travelling around the world and living an absolutely beautiful life.
And me?
I have never stolen a dime in my life. I was never publicly disgraced. And I’m still here. 😂😭
Life really has a wicked sense of humour.
Sometimes I genuinely wonder if being a good person comes with a delayed reward or if I just missed my own turn.
Copied!

He walked into the ring that night in April 2015 like a young man who still believed the future was something you could punch your way into.
Prichard Colón. Twenty two years old. Undefeated. Fast hands, quiet confidence, that sharp Puerto Rican pride sitting right on his shoulders. People were already whispering his name. This one, they said.
This one has it.
That night he faced Daniel Calzada. It wasn’t supposed to be the fight that defined him. It was just another step. Another win. He took it the way he took most of them with pressure, with power, with that cold focus in his eyes. You can see it in the photos. The green gloves. The sweat. The way he’s leaning in, mouth open, already knowing the round belongs to him.
He stopped Calzada in the ninth. Another notch. Another night where the dream still felt close enough to touch.
Nobody in that arena knew what was coming six months later.
October 17, 2015. Fairfax, Virginia. A different opponent. Terrel Williams. Same undefeated record. Same hunger. But something went wrong that night. Illegal punches to the back of the head — rabbit punches again and again. Colón complained.
The referee didn’t stop it. The doctor cleared him when he said he felt dizzy. His corner, confused, pulled his gloves off thinking the fight was over when it wasn’t.
He walked out of the ring under his own power.
Then he collapsed in the dressing room.
He suffered a serious brain injury. Emergency surgery followed. He remained in a coma for 221 days. When he woke up, the young man who used to move like water was gone. He couldn’t walk. He couldn’t speak. For the next eleven years, his parents became his full-time caregivers. They talked to him. They played music. They fought for him in court. They never stopped believing some part of him was still in there.
On August 13, 2026, Prichard Colón finally left this world at thirty-three years old.
The same kid who once stood in the center of the ring with green gloves and fire in his eyes spent the last decade of his life in a hospital bed, fighting a battle no one could see.
That’s the untold part.
Not the highlight. Not the knockout.
The quiet years.
The mother who never left his side.
The father who still called him “my son” like the future hadn’t been stolen.
Boxing gave him a name.
It also took almost everything else.
And somehow, even after all of that, people still look at those old photos and feel something tight in their chest because they know that young man in the green gloves never got to finish his story the way he was supposed to.
That’s the mystery.
Not what happened in the ring.
What happened after the lights went out. #viralvídeo

The longer you live, the more lonely life gets. All my dad’s age mates are all dead. All of them. He is 90+ years now. We thought he was 87 but his kinsmen used their own means to recompute his age.

None of it was real.
There was no Amy.
He was arrested and charged with fraud and sexual abuse. By day, he'd been working as a school crossing guard
all three say, he became aroused.
The first caregiver got suspicious and followed him home. His own parents answered the door and confirmed what she already feared: he didn't have a disability and never needed any of it.
Three different women were brought in over one summer. The first said she assisted him around 30 times, sometimes meeting him at restaurants to change him in public bathrooms. "Amy" would text them to punish him if he soiled himself. And during the baths,
There was no son with a disability. There was just Paul Menchaca, a 31-year-old in Gilbert, Arizona, who had invented the whole thing. He posed as the mother online, hired caregivers off a job site, and presented himself to them as a man who couldn't care for himself.

if her life would ever remain the same
But every morning she made a choice.
She showed up.
One painful exercise at a time.
One small movement at a time.
One day, she managed to stand for a few seconds.
Then she took a step.
Then another.
and the chances of her ever walking again were extremely low.
For months she watched life from her hospital bed while her friends went to school, played sports, and lived normal lives.
There were days she cried herself sleep.
Days she wanted to quit therapy.
Days she wondered.
