AOAV spent more than a year examining the principal explosive weapons used by the Israeli military in Gaza between Oct 23 and Sep 25.
A central finding is the incongruence between so-called “precision” warfare and large-scale destructive effects in dense urban environments.

Firearms are a neglected driver of femicide worldwide. A new Global Coalition report shows how guns increase lethal violence against women and enable coercive control. It urges WHO to make firearm risk central to public health surveillance, clinical guidance and prevention.

🤖 On the first day of GIJN’s #IJWeek, panelists at the Tech and Conflict session looked at how the technologies and AI systems increasingly shaping conflict are conceived, financed and coded in conference rooms, data centres and tech offices far from the battlefield.
They said war reporters must also dig into procurement records, trade databases, export licenses, corporate filings, and the digital breadcrumbs left behind by the military-tech ecosystem to understand complicity and responsibility in conflict.
Panelists: @brown_johnbrown, lecturer at @bengurionu; @iainoverton, executive director of @AOAV; @tkbarnes, field reporter at @inkstickmedia
Moderator: @sandrinerigaud, program director at @gijn

3/5 US defence group Ondas bought Rotron in March 2026. Five months later, Ondas announced a multi-million-dollar Israeli military drone programme. Reports suggest thousands of 'kamikaze' attack drones, including swarms, could be produced.
4/5 Of note, former Mossad chief David Barnea now heads Ondas Defence.
There is no public evidence that Rotron's drones have reached Israel. But could British-funded military technology eventually enter Israel's arsenal through its US owner?
5/5 Britain suspended around 30 arms export licences to Israel over humanitarian-law concerns.
Yet can it prevent British technology reaching Israel indirectly via America?

It's been shown by Democracy for Sale how major defence contractors gained a seat at the table while Palantir secured a £240m MoD contract without competition.
