Since opening in late 2025, the Ismaili Center has become a spiritual home and an urban destination in Houston. The design of the center was led by Farshid Moussavi Architecture, with DLR Group as the architect and engineer of record.
Farshid Moussavi, who is also a professor of practice at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design, transforms familiar materials through precision and craft, creating architecture that feels accessible and rooted in its place.

We’re excited to share the first interview in our new series featuring the minds behind the 15th Architizer A+Awards jury.
This year, the A+Awards celebrate the people behind architecture: the ideas, judgment, skills and care that shape the spaces we inhabit. We wanted to go beyond the finished projects and hear directly from the architects shaping the profession today.
We’re kicking things off with Alison Brooks, Principal and Creative Director of Alison Brooks Architects, who shares her thoughts on architectural generosity and why the small, everyday decisions that make people feel welcome matter so much.
