NEW: premiering in about an hour
this is a narrative-focused (not a legal deep-dive) recap of Ethan Klein's vexatious lawsuits, how the commentary community enabled them, and my goodbye to the Ethan Klein drama

sexuality and gender is too complicated now so i just call myself a faggot and move on
> be Patrick Stewart
> grow up in a house with no bathroom or hot water
> discover acting and feel safe on stage
> lose your hair by 19
> think your romantic life is over
> become a Shakespearean actor
> spend years performing with the Royal Shakespeare Company
> get offered the role of Captain Picard at 47
> be told by Ian McKellen not to take it
> take it anyway
> play Picard for more than 35 years
> become Professor X along the way
> reunite with McKellen as Magneto
> get knighted by Queen Elizabeth II
> speak publicly about the violence you witnessed as a child
> help women and children facing domestic abuse
> die at 86
> leave behind characters that millions grew up with
I grew up seeing him on screen. I think part of me expected him to always be there.
Rest in peace, Patrick...

“Being left-wing can create a little problems sometimes in the United States, but I would have fun with it! There’s nothing like being at a dinner party in Beverly Hills with fancy guests and telling them you’re a socialist.”
Rest in Peace, Patrick Stewart ✊

I just found out that Sir Patrick Stewart has died.
Here is a video he made on the advice he would give to his younger self.

Be so comfortably straight that you're ok being a little gay with your best friend.
Sir Patrick Stewart, the zenith of positive masculinity.

Not only was he a great actor he was a progressive activist who supported LGBTQ rights, universal healthcare, destigmatizing mental health issues, and was fiercely opposed to nationalism. He truly lived the ideals of Star Trek.

A child picked a book about a transgender boy for a library display. Conservatives threw a fit, and a Georgia librarian lost her job. Now she's suing. Apparently, even letting kids choose books is too much freedom for the book-banning crowd.
