QB Mikey Keene, S Lyrik Rawls and IOL Wade Helton were listed as questionable by ASU in the first Big 12 Availability Report of the week.
IOL Tana Alo-Tupuola, who has started games at center and right guard, has been ruled out. BYU star RB LJ Martin will still be out.

Kenny Dillingham, also a certified ball knower 😂
"Coach Eck had an unbelievable example of this... It's like the Madden game."
- Dillingham when asked about starting a banged-up Mikey Keene or freshman Jake Fette at QB against No. 8 BYU
New Mexico head coach Jason Eck, certified ball knower: 🎮
"Like in Madden football, a guy gets injured on Madden, you got to make a substitution. And it comes up on the screen, your starter is usually like a 90, and your backup's an 80. But because of the injury, the 90 guy is down to 78... So that was kind of the thought process... All the kids will know exactly what I'm talking about."
Hugo has turned it up the last few games. Very bright future.
Brian Ward spoke highly of Julian Hugo, who became the first Sun Devil freshman since Terrell Suggs to record a sack in three straight games:
"He has some things that you just can't teach... He's a special talent."

Boogie Wilson picked off Jake Fette to end the main portion of ASU’s practice. It was the only interception I saw Fette throw today. Mikey Keene also took 11v11 reps. Still unclear who will start at QB Saturday.
Lyrik Rawls (knee) is questionable this week, Kenny Dillingham said. He got hurt against Baylor and missed the last three games. He’s taken second-team reps this week. He was ASU’s best-performing safety early this season.
ASU basketball's 6-foot-11 Cal Baptist PF transfer Jonathan Griman (4.0 ppg, 3.9 rpg last season) did not play in Sunday's exhibition win over New Mexico. He's suing the NCAA for eligibility. This thread details the case.

Dave Hakstol on his decision to come to ASU after a decade coaching in the NHL:
"There was something about this opportunity that felt special. And I truly feel that way. ...we look to the foundation of the future. I just think there's so much here."

Dave Hakstol on preparing for how college hockey has changed since he was last an NCAA coach 11 years ago:
"I've watched the business side of it closely. ...I have to learn that firsthand. ...The level of play right now... it's spectacular."

Dave Hakstol on what he wanted to accomplish with the "mini training camp" he held during ASU's bye week—his first full week with the team:
"Get to know what their abilities are. ...then, coupled with that, lay the foundation of how we want to play systematically."
Check this out. Impressive hockey hire.
Hear from new ASU hockey head coach Dave Hakstol on his first few weeks with the program, how he wants to build it and more in his introductory press conference:

Put many of my thoughts about the K-State game here. QB situation. Cardae Mack’s emergence. ASU’s burgeoning gap-scheme success. Improved energy and physicality. Better execution at safety. And more.

Hakstol was impressive today. He seems very process driven. Talked about working with NHL teams that hold rights to college players on development alignment.
With his NHL head coaching background and relationships, and the academics/ambience at ASU, he could get elite players.
Dave Hakstol said he wants to build ASU into a program that consistently produces NHL talent:
"We want this to be a great pathway to the NHL. That's one of the reasons why we want players to choose ASU as the right place for them and their development."

Dave Hakstol on how he's led ASU's players through the difficult circumstances and emotions that preceded his arrival:
"The best thing that I can do is provide leadership for whatever the day brings. ...I'm aware of some of the things that these players are possibly dealing with. Yet I make no assumptions."
