New in our community interview series: Areg, who started contributing to #CollaboraOnline to challenge himself and learn in public. His first patch replaced bitmap icons in the font selector with vector graphics. Today he works on interoperability and back-end fixes, including a recent Calc crash fix. He also shares what he's learned from code reviews, and why your first contribution doesn't have to be intimidating. Do you remember your first open source contribution? We'd love to hear about it! Before a plan leaves your team, make sure everyone who opens it can see it’s still a draft. In Collabora Online Writer, you can add a text watermark like DRAFT or CONFIDENTIAL to the page background: 1. Open your document in Writer. 2. Go to Layout > Watermark. 3. Type your text. 4. Pick the font, angle, transparency and colour, then click OK. The watermark stays visible while editing, in print and in PDF exports, so a draft keeps looking like a draft wherever it ends up. 🔗 Try it in the demo: buff.ly/mFsNxrS #CollaboraOnline #OpenSource #Watermark

Our statement on the Danish government’s Collabora Office pilot: the cBrain F2 integration was completed, reported issues were resolved, and a reorganisation paused the pilot before any evaluation concluded. Work continues with other Danish authorities. collaboraonline.com/blog/den…

Moving away from Google Workspace shouldn’t mean rebuilding the automations you rely on. Collabora Online is adding support for add-ons written in Google Apps Script, so existing workflows can move to a self-hosted, open-source office suite. Add-ons sit in the new Extensions menu, just like in Google’s editors, and can create charts and pivot tables, format spreadsheets, and work with presentations. And it’s already happening: the open-source Docs to Markdown add-on now runs in Collabora Online too. Curious what add-ons can do now? Here’s the full rundown. 🔗 buff.ly/yEgeof8 #CollaboraOnline #OpenSource #Interoperability #DigitalSovereignty

Clean Up is a new sidebar deck in #CollaboraOnline Impress, replacing the old Presentation Minimizer wizard. Scan, review each finding with its slide, and save, then choose Fix or Fix all, with a single undo. The scan sends the list first and measures images in a lowest-priority idle task, so your typing always goes first. 🔗 See how Clean Up works on our developer blog: buff.ly/XE4NttS Thank you, Rashesh Padia, for making presentations lighter. 💜 #CollaboraOnline #OpenSource

Scaling collaborative editing to thousands of users takes more than standard Kubernetes orchestration. ⚙️📝 All requests for the same document must reach the same pod, even as the cluster scales up and down. COOL Controller, Collabora’s Kubernetes orchestration platform for collaborative editing, is designed to handle this complexity. From keeping document sessions on the right pod to routing users to the nearest server, it helps organisations run collaborative editing at scale, with document-level monitoring for sysadmins. Explore the architecture, key capabilities, and deployment scenarios in our white paper. 🔗 buff.ly/iocwjlE #CollaboraOnline #Kubernetes #OpenSource

That spare Raspberry Pi could be running your own online office suite. In our step-by-step tutorial, we show you how to get Collabora Online up and running using the official CODE Docker image. No reverse proxy or SQL database needed, making it a straightforward way to try it on your own hardware. Not using a Pi? The same process works on most x86-64, ARM64 and PPC64 Linux hosts. 🎥 Watch the tutorial: buff.ly/rH7PSMH #CollaboraOnline #RaspberryPi #SelfHosted #Docker #FOSS

Microsoft 365 is the default in many organisations, and defaults rarely get questioned. Until a licence renewal or a data sovereignty review brings the decision back to the table. If you’re considering an open source alternative that runs on your own infrastructure, our white paper offers a side-by-side feature comparison of Collabora Online with Microsoft 365. Integrators: set up your editor once to work the same across all your devices, or the entire organisation. Server-side Settings in Collabora Online make this possible for integrators. Through a WOPI-based Settings API, settings are stored on your WOPI host, and sync across devices. ⚙️ For admins, that means one place to roll out custom dictionaries, AutoText and document themes for the whole organisation. 💻️ For users, it means interface preferences, AI assistant, document signing and Zotero credentials get set up once, and are available everywhere. Our new blog walks integrators through how it works across all the customisable settings categories, step by step. Get customising: 🎨 buff.ly/ibT98Xb #CollaboraOnline #OpenSource #WOPI
