Almost 9 million people across the UK are at risk of needing a food bank in the next year. One in five people have already run out of food and couldn't afford to buy more in the past year. And with further energy price rises on the horizon, millions face continued pressure. The consequences go far beyond hunger. People are losing sleep, struggling with their health and relationships, and finding it harder to work. But this doesn't have to be our future. Ahead of the Budget, we need urgent action to ensure everyone can afford the essentials.

Water companies want ANOTHER price hike on your water bills. They want you to take the 💩hit for their chronic, catastrophic performance. Write to your MP - demand that the Chancellor blocks any more bill hikes. 🚨But don't put it off - the deadline is this Thursday. vist.ly/5q7jd

When the Oxford children's dictionary discarded dozens of nature-words—"dandelion," "fern," "starling"—as irrelevant to children's imagination and replaced them with words like "broadband" and "cut-and-paste," this inspired act of resistance was born: themarginalian.org/2019/06/1…

Seven years ago, Lula was in prison serving an unjust conviction. Today, he is the re-elected president of Brazil. In 2018, he said “there is no point in trying to end my ideas, they are already lingering in the air”. Lula’s ideas don't just linger. They live! Viva Lula!

Another important point on the LatAm region's Centre of diplomatic Autonomy and policy space afforded by BR and MX to their neighbours
Replying to @gb_decarvalho
For Latin America, the result preserves an important centre of diplomatic autonomy. Brazil and Mexico, its two largest economies, can resist pressure and widen options for their neighbours. Their weight matters in a region where countries face coercion very unevenly. 11/...

An important thread on Lula's victory and the struggle ahead
Lula's victory is deeply personal for me. Above all, I feel relief: Brazil has prevented the far right from returning to the presidency, alongside a strengthened right in Congress. But the result also exposes challenges facing democracies far beyond Brazil. 1/....
