At what threshold does Beijing say “stop doing that” to the DPRK? A significant percentage of Binance’s holdings are Chinese deposits, and it seems like the attack could have been even more ambitious than $6B and challenged the solvency
Investigation update: Our initial investigation suggested that the security incident may have involved a compromised laptop, however our subsequent investigation has uncovered additional points of breach. This was a complex attack, and we are doing all we can in coordination with law enforcement to resolve it. We are still gathering the facts, and will share more directly as we have them. Binance will cover all losses from the SAFU fund and the company’s funds. User funds are safe. We are still on track towards the expected timeline to resume the withdrawal service in 45 hours. Deposits remain unaffected. The outflows ceased when we paused withdrawal service earlier. We are still working with partners to freeze many of the impacted assets, and have frozen around $3 billion thus far. We will continue to provide further updates through official Binance channels as more verified information becomes available.

I stopped by Redwood’s new SF facility to check out their new manufacturing line and it is quite impressive. They have a universal BMS dubbed “Pack Man” that can connect to any two semi-functional EV batteries and deploy ~280 kWh to the grid in a matter of hours, without ever disassembling the pack.
The gap between when power is needed and when the grid can provide it has become one of the defining constraints of this moment. So, companies need a partner who can supply power quickly, along with the materials and equipment that go into it.   At Redwood, we're building our way through that gap. We pair our own battery systems with solar and other generation sources to stand up power projects end to end, on a timeline that is faster than the grid can deliver. That's the foundation for the intelligent microgrids we're building next, sized for the demand coming from AI data centers, hyperscalers, and heavy industry.   Our work with Rivian is one example of how to solve for this moment. More on how we think about our energy ecosystem: redwoodmaterials.com/news/th…

Redwood is also now the largest cobalt and nickel producer in the U.S. because of their recycling program, which recycles 80-90% of all lithium ion batteries in the country. Pretty incredible company.

You don’t have the optimal level of AI psychosis until you’re too enthralled in machine progress to fall victim to the latest social media psychosis. Tune out the people, and tune in the machines.
This site is full of verified accounts saying there is about to be a war on US soil and that people need to be prepping and there’s no real way to tell what’s real and what’s fake or if anyone has real sources. Seems like a good state of affairs.

I think the story of this will be that, yes a DevOps engineer’s laptop was compromised, but then a red team model scanned their access and Binance’s infrastructure to execute the attack more quickly than humans could have. It’s hard to secure human credentials, and we’ve overfitted on expiry and assumptions that aren’t true anymore.
Binance's initial investigation suggests that the security incident may involve a compromised DevOps engineer’s laptop, which allowed an attacker to gain access to a service container and submit unauthorized withdrawal transactions. We have found no evidence of any wallet private key leak. We will share a detailed technical post-mortem once the investigation is complete and the facts are fully verified. The estimated total impact sits at around $6.3B. We have worked with blockchain partners to freeze affected assets, with ~$3 billion frozen on-chain so far. Binance will cover all losses from the SAFU fund and the company’s funds. User funds are safe. We will also publish an updated Proof of Reserves once the remediation is complete. As an immediate precaution, Binance has: - temporarily suspended deposits and withdrawals while security checks are completed; - revoked the affected address authorisation; - engaged law enforcement and blockchain intelligence partners to trace and recover funds. Our teams are working around the clock to resolve this issue safely and thoroughly. We are working closely with our law enforcement partners to confirm the identity of these criminals and bring them to justice. Please rely only on official Binance channels for updates. Please feel free to contact Binance Customer Support if you have any further questions. binance.com/en/support/annou…

The narratives are so over if there is not an AI angle to this attack
this would be the largest crypto hack in history by at least a multiple if confirmed actually might be the largest cyberattack in general for all internet regardless of crypto one silver lining is that binance is rich enough to make everyone whole

Is DebugBear the source of both the Polymarket and Binance attacks, then? I wonder if Binance has an internal frontend that was compromised as a result of this.
We're impacted by an ongoing security incident. If you use our RUM product, please remove the embed code from your website.

Unconfirmed, but possibly massive binance hack. Entire Binance wallet drained into new EOA. Contract call was funded by Tornado Cash

I do wonder what Apple’s design group sees in this and is anticipating. Most of the value of this would seem to come from everything except macOS and the interfaces designed for a mouse. Do they foresee a HomeView-like interface taking over the Mac? Deeper iPadOS compatibility? Feels like the hardware is ahead again.

I do think centralizing dictation whispers with broader meetings/conversations is going to unlock a lot of capability that hasn’t been explored yet. Especially for long-horizon learning and contextual glossaries to make prompts more effective. Excited for this.
Granola now does voice typing. Unlimited words, for free. Granola already writes your meeting notes. Now it can do the typing for you, in any app.

There are so many UI details like this yet to discover. The notification badge was designed around a synchronous human conversation where someone was waiting on your reply. But the way we interact with agents will be completely different. It may define whatever the next OS becomes.

I have a theory that the reason the “Hey Siri” conversations don’t appear in the Siri AI app is so that Apple can avoid screenshots of how bad it is. It’s unbelievable that they shipped it.
Siri is still bad, like really really bad. I opened an email with my Uber Eats confirmation, there was a live activity on the screen with progress, and I pulled down and asked Siri "what did I order for lunch?" And it thought for like 2 minutes and then said it doesn't know. 🤦‍♂️ Okay so the harness and models are clearly bad. Well, then next I opened up the Siri GUI app on macOS and HOLY. It's the worst looking, beginner, basic bitch app I've ever seen. Did someone spend more than 5 minutes on this? Whoever worked on this app along with the full chain of people who checked off on this needs to be terminated immediately. This is 0/10 terrible software, so embarrassed for Apple to ship this.

I asked Siri to read out the pin code I got from a storage company with a specific searchable keyword, and it instead just started reading out every automated text message and OTP from every Twillio number that has ever contacted me.

The Savannah River Site, via WRDW, reports that the incident was a fire in a single room at Savannah River National Laboratory, and there was “an unfiltered ground-level radiological release.” There is no indication of contamination beyond the site’s boundaries. wrdw.com/2026/10/28/emergenc…

I have been saying "the future of AI is crypto and vice versa" a lot recently because trust, spend, formal verification will all be based on the lessons and infra from crypto. MPC has felt like another pillar there. Much yet to explore!
Here’s a short explainer video on our MPC solution and the problems it solves
