This morning, we cut the ribbon on the Prospect Lake Clean Water Center! When we broke ground in January 2024, we committed to modernizing our aging water infrastructure. Today, that commitment is a reality. Prospect Lake is now operational and delivering clear drinking water to our city and the neighboring communities we serve. This investment, one of the largest infrastructure projects in our city’s history, was delivered on schedule. Through our public-private partnership, the city retains ownership of the facility, maintains oversight and continues to control water rates. Behind this accomplishment are dedicated city employees, construction crews and project partners whose work will benefit generations to come. Thank you to my City Commission colleagues, our Utility Services team, IDE Technologies, Kiewit Water Facilities Florida and Ridgewood Infrastructure for helping deliver this essential investment in our community’s future. Together, #WeAreFTL!

Higher-than-normal tides are expected to increase the potential for roadway flooding in low-lying areas of Fort Lauderdale over the coming days. Neighbors are encouraged to plan ahead and prepare for possible roadway flooding, particularly during peak high tides, when some streets may become impassable. Roadway flooding is most likely during the two to three hours before and after each peak high tide. Neighbors are encouraged to avoid unnecessary travel, as entering or exiting neighborhoods and properties may be especially difficult. Upcoming Peak High Tides: · Tuesday, Oct. 27: 9:45 a.m. and 9:45 p.m. · Wednesday, Oct. 28: 10:30 a.m. and 10:30 p.m. · Thursday, Oct. 29: 11:15 a.m. and 11:30 p.m. Free Parking Available at Riverwalk Center Garage: To help residents protect their vehicles from tidal flooding, the City is offering free parking on the second floor and above of the Riverwalk Center Garage, beginning this evening through Friday, Oct. 30, at 6 p.m. What Neighbors Should Expect: · Roadway flooding in low-lying neighborhoods, particularly around peak high tides. · Difficulty entering or exiting properties, with some roadways potentially becoming impassable or requiring temporary closures. · Floodwaters that may remain on streets until tidal levels begin to drop. · Rainfall and wind conditions that could worsen flooding. · Secure waste carts to prevent them from tipping, filling with water or floating into roadways. If carts are placed out for collection, please secure them promptly afterward. Why Can't the City Simply Pump the Water Out? Unlike flooding caused by heavy rainfall, tidal flooding occurs when rising ocean levels push saltwater into low-lying areas through waterways and drainage systems and over seawalls. Stormwater pumps are designed to move rainwater out of neighborhoods. However, when ocean tides are exceptionally high, there may be nowhere for that water to go. Pumping into waterways already elevated by the tide may not be effective, and water can continue entering streets until the tide recedes. Stay Safe and Report Flooding: Never drive through flooded roadways. If traveling near standing water, slow down to avoid creating wakes that can push water onto nearby properties. Report impassable roads by calling 954-828-8000 or submitting a request through the FixItFTL app. For additional information and updates, visit fortlauderdale.gov/kingtides.

I’m honored to be named a 2026 OUT100 Influencer by @outmagazine , joining an inspiring group of LGBTQ+ leaders, advocates and changemakers. This recognition is especially meaningful because of the platform Out provides for LGBTQ+ voices, and I am proud to serve a city where our community’s contributions are part of Fort Lauderdale's storied history. I’m also delighted to congratulate Fort Lauderdale Police Chief Bill Schultz, who was recognized this year as well. Thank you, Out, for this honor! #OUT100

Your property taxes provide nearly half of the funding for Fort Lauderdale’s day-to-day operations, supporting many of the services our neighbors rely upon every single day. But here’s something that may surprise you... For every $1 a Fort Lauderdale resident pays in property taxes, only approximately 24 cents goes to the City of Fort Lauderdale. The remaining 76 cents is distributed among the School Board, Broward County, public hospitals, Children’s Services and other special districts. And we put the city’s share to work! 🚓Public Safety: 60.4% of our General Fund supports services such as Police, Fire Rescue, Emergency Management and our lifeguards. 🌳Parks & Recreation: Maintaining our parks and supporting youth and senior programs, recreation and community events. 🚧 Infrastructure & Mobility: Investing in our streets, sidewalks, streetlights and neighborhood infrastructure. 📈 Economic Development: Supporting workforce development, small businesses and entrepreneurship. 🏘️ Community Enhancement: Addressing neighborhood needs through programs such as traffic calming and code enforcement. I encourage every neighbor to learn more about how our city is funded and how your tax dollars are invested in our community. More details can be found at: spotlightftl.com/propertytax… #WeAreFTL

Early voting has begun in Broward County, and in this election, Fort Lauderdale voters will have a say in how our City government works. The City Charter is like Fort Lauderdale's constitution. It guides how the City is governed, defines City leaders' roles and responsibilities, and sets the framework for decision-making. The City Commission has approved proposed changes to 21 sections of the Charter, which will appear on the ballot as 10 questions. Before you vote, know what’s on your ballot! The City has created a webpage where you can review each of the 10 ballot questions, read the proposed ballot language, and learn what each change would mean. Visit spotlightftl.com/charterrevi… to review the proposed changes today. Together, #WeAreFTL.

A reminder for everyone heading to Himmarshee: Enjoy your night out responsibly. Our entertainment district will be safe for residents, visitors and the people who work there. FLPD is increasing its presence alongside state law enforcement partners, with strict enforcement focused on underage drinking, violence and other criminal activity. Businesses must ensure they are not serving alcohol to anyone under 21. The City Commission will also consider proposed ordinance changes next week to increase fines for alcohol-related violations and establish security, alcohol safety training and maintenance requirements for businesses seeking to operate late at night. Those additional changes are still under consideration. Increased police enforcement is already underway. We want Himmarshee to thrive and everyone has a role in keeping it safe. #WeAreFTL @ftlauderdalepd @FLFR411 @FTLCityNews

This morning, I joined Fort Lauderdale Police, Fire Rescue, and state officials to announce increased enforcement in the Himmarshee Street entertainment district. FLPD is partnering with state law enforcement agencies to increase the presence of uniformed officers and address underage drinking, violence and other public safety concerns. Our message is clear: Enjoy Fort Lauderdale’s nightlife responsibly. Businesses must follow the law, and patrons must do their part to keep the district safe. Next week, the City Commission will consider proposed ordinance changes to increase fines for alcohol-related violations and establish security, alcohol safety training and maintenance requirements for businesses seeking to operate late at night. We believe in Himmarshee’s future. Public safety and responsible operations are essential to its success. #WeAreFTL

As Fort Lauderdale’s Jewish community observes the High Holidays, I was proud to welcome Rabbi Mendel and rabbinical student Berel of Chabad Lubavitch to my office for their annual blessing and the traditional blowing of the shofar. I was pleased to be joined by City Clerk David Solomon and Fort Lauderdale Police Major Adam Solomon — no relation — for this meaningful tradition and moment of reflection. As our Jewish neighbors transition from Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, toward Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, I wish everyone observing a meaningful and easy fast. May this sacred time bring reflection, renewal and peace to you and your loved ones. Together, #WeAreFTL. G’mar Chatima Tova!

Yesterday, Commissioner Beasley-Pittman and I had the honor of joining the St. Anthony Catholic Church and School community for a special Centennial Mass celebrating 100 years of faith, education and service. Founded in 1926 with just 64 students, St. Anthony became Broward County’s first Catholic school. Over the century that followed, generations of students have passed through its doors, guided by a commitment to academic excellence, spiritual growth and service to others. I was proud to present a proclamation from the Mayor's Office recognizing this milestone and the lasting contributions St. Anthony has made to our city. Congratulations to the clergy, administrators, faculty, staff, students, families and alumni who have carried this extraordinary legacy forward. May St. Anthony continue educating and inspiring future generations for another 100 years! #WeAreFTL
