“The future of Baseball is here and it looks a lot like the past” -- Tom Verducci 40 seconds of profound, and hopefully, Prophetic words of baseball returning to its roots 👇 So well said Tom 👏 @PitchingNinja @MLBNetwork

Interesting 1st & 3rd scenario after Pratt singles to RCF with runners on 1B & 2B. 1) Caminero does a good job of being his own cutoff man when DeLuca overthrows Walls. Walls is on 2B instead of aligned up to 3B as the cutoff man. 2) Aranda does a good job of getting back to 1B once he sees the throw directed to 3B verses HP. 3) Walls does a good job of keeping his head on a swivel while running Pratt back to 1B. Maybe gives the ball up a little early. You want to avoid having the 1st baseman running hard to 2B with a runner on 3B. 4) Probably want Freilich to hold his ground at 3B ( Not retreat to 3B ) & break to HP when Aranda is running hard towards 2B.

The Rays believe in Strike one. They hit the FB. They run the bases well. They play good defense. Bottom half of order know who they are and execute. Move runners if they need to. More importantly they don't strike out!! Sometimes people complicate this game. They keep it simple

David Wright explains how to identify a selfish teammate “To me, that’s what shows everybody what you’re made of. Anybody can smile and have a good time and enjoy the game when things are going their way and you’re having success.” “But it takes a special person to be a good teammate. To be the first one to high-five the guy when they do something good, even though you’ve had three strikeouts that game.” “What face do you put on in the locker room when you got four hits and the team lost compared to when you went 0-for-4 with four strikeouts and the team won? Happy-hit guy. Happy-hit guy is a term that we use to this day.” “I think that differentiates between the true great teammates and the winners and the guys that are out there trying to do it for themselves. It’s just dealing with failures, dealing with adversity, and it’s a small sample size of what you’re going to get in real life.”

What a testament to resolve and resilience by the players and coaches with what they’ve dealt with the last weeks.

Braxton Ashcraft was asked to give advice to travel coaches. Love this. “Don’t practice every day. Have time away to do other things, to play all the sports and have the opportunity to miss it.”
