Making my presence felt behind the plate. Executing a back pick at 2nd and throwing out a runner trying to steal 3rd. I’ve watched coaches (from behind a screen) say that you’re a clown if you use the terms:
“hinge” or “sit into my hips”

I really, really hope this gets resolved.
Wheels is an invaluable resource for those of us who cover sports like college baseball and the LLWS.
There is zero doubt that Wheels is helping us grow those entities.
It would be a massive loss to see this channel go away.

Tigers scout ball gets an early look at what appears to be the Agoura Chargers pitching staff. Deep arms. Plenty of projection. #marmonteleagueready #onlysophmores @ZachPartee_31 @Zack_Greene34 @NehuenIban58346

There’s nothing more perfect than a baseball field. Skip Bertman explains it better than anyone else will.
Rest in peace, coach

I’ve long believed that being kinda dumb is an asset in baseball.
Pete Crow-Armstrong says being locked in 100% of the time isn’t elite focus, it’s a shortcut to burnout
“You’ve got to be excited to go out there every inning. It’s important to take some moments off, not take pitches off, but the time in between pitches.”
“If nobody’s on… I’m letting my mind wander. I’m looking up into the bleachers… Seeing who’s there.”
“You’ve got to check out sometimes… So you can lock it back in.”
“If you are locked in 100% of the time… You’ll burn out in a couple weeks.”
“Other sports don’t have the luxury of our pace of play. It’s a different motor for sure.”

One thing I've learned after playing professional baseball for over a decade, evaluating thousands of players, and watching countless recruiting classes...
The goal is NOT to be the best player at 16.
The goal is to become the best player you can be at 20, 22, 25... when your body, mind, and game are truly coming together.
Play other sports.
Compete often.
Train with purpose.
Embrace adversity.
Become a great teammate.
Become an even better person.
I've seen plenty of players peak early.
The ones who never stop developing are usually the ones we're still talking about years later.
Build your floor. Chase your ceiling.

You can see the half smile on Sean Burke's face when he got the "throw the crap out of the ball down the dick" sign on PitchCom. 🤣

If you wear a pinstripe top…you have to wear pinstripe pants.
If you wear pinstripe pants, you can wear a solid top…but it cannot be white.
These are the baseball uniform rules set forth by the Baseball Gods. I do not make them.

Skip Johnson has talked a lot about "the dugout" throughout Oklahoma's run, the other guys who haven't seen the field as much as they did during the regular season still supporting their teammates
I asked Skip about that today:
"It's uncommon at every level. I mean, from Little League all the way up. When their kid's not playing, all they hear is the negative energy. These guys really have been selfless."
"Man, if you can teach those young men to be selfless in a selfish world, is really big to me. It's really big to me. When nobody cares who gets the credit, you can do amazing things. It's pretty amazing."

THANK YOU, AGOURA! ❤️⚾️
As our playoff run came to an end, I want to take a moment to thank the entire Agoura community.
To our students, parents, alumni, teachers, administrators, youth players, and fans—thank you for showing up for these young men. The energy, support, and pride you brought to every playoff game meant more than you'll ever know.
High school sports are about so much more than wins and losses. They're about community. They're about creating memories that last a lifetime. Watching our stands fill up, hearing the crowd behind us, and seeing Agoura come together to support these players was something truly special.
These boys poured their hearts and souls into this season. They worked, competed, battled adversity, and represented Agoura with class. To see them rewarded with the support they received throughout this playoff run was incredibly meaningful.
On behalf of our players and coaching staff, thank you for believing in us, supporting us, and making this season one we'll never forget.
The future of Agoura Baseball is bright, and we're just getting started.

Tom Brady shares what he tells every college athlete he meets and it's not what they expect.
"I hope this experience is hard for you. I hope it's not easy."
"I hope today in this game you're losing in the 4th quarter and you look at each other in the eye and try to figure out solutions to how you're gonna win the game."
"That's how you're gonna find out what you're made of."
You find out who you are when you are challenged. Expect adversity. Expect tough moments.
"Life is hard. The challenges of life are hard."
"This program is hard. It's built on toughness. It's built on resilience. And that's what I wanna see from this team."
You can't wish for easy or hope for easy.
Adversity is a gift if you let it be.

Colton Junge, RHP, Agoura HS — Earned Honorable Mention All-Marmonte League honors after serving as one of the Chargers’ most dependable arms out of the bullpen. Junge thrived in high-pressure situations, inheriting 21 runners and allowing just one to score all season—an incredible testament to his composure, competitiveness, and ability to shut down rallies. Time and again, he delivered when his team needed him most, making him a key piece of Agoura’s success this season. Congratulations on a well-deserved honor. #AllMarmonteLeague #AgouraBaseball
