I'm OG enough of a crypto guy to remember when the community used to say "not your keys, not your coin".
Looks like they were right all along.
Unpopular opinion among some Web3 folks but I've always said that the industry made a big mistake trying to turn crypto exchanges into banks - it's basically an inferior version of banks that's more expensive, less secure, more volatile and not enough interest to cover the risk.
Crypto exchanges wanted to be part of Wall st and the banking system so bad, they lost sight of what they were there to begin with - to be an EXCHANGE between fiat and digital currencies. They're like those kiosks you see at international airports - storing a ton of money in one place isn't what they're supposed to be doing. 😬
