India's iron and steel industry is entering a new phase of growth. Steel production capacity has risen to 220 MT in FY26, up from 200.33 MT in FY25, reflecting the sector's steady expansion and its ability to keep pace with the country's growing needs.
Steel remains central to infrastructure and manufacturing. Greater capacity strengthens domestic supply, reduces import dependence and creates jobs across the value chain.
